   Extremely disappointed the restaurant took our reservation knowing the dinning room was already committed to an event. We were seated at two small tables pushed together in the bar with only bar food available. We were excited to try the new restaurant for my wife’s birthday. In addition, the speak easy bar in basement wasn’t open. Not a good first experience/impression.

   Really enjoyed Shirley's. Not having to drive to Short Pump, Richmond, or Midlothian to have a fine dining experience was great. We celebrated my wife's birthday. We had the Shrimp Salsa Martini and Pork Wings for appetizers, and they were delicious. We had the rib-eye, sage chicken, and the mac & cheese for entrees. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted great. Our daughter had the smash burger, and she killed it. Well, half of it. It's a double patty burger, and we learned afterwards that we could have gotten her a single. We shared the brown butter cookie for dessert, which was warm, soft, and tasted like smores. We will visit Shirley's again.

   Excellent service in a beautiful and historic atmosphere. Unfortunately , the food does not yet match the level of quality that is found in the service and aesthetic. My husband ordered the spare ribs and the meat was extremely fatty, I order a selection from the sides menu and found the Brussels basic, the Mac n cheese ok, and the potato cakes without much flavor. I will add that our companions enjoyed the blackened salmon and the pimento cheese was very flavorful. I will also add that the two cocktails I tried were underwhelming and I were not mixed well. We will come back and try again based on the level of service and the feet cool vibe of the hotel, we are assuming that the kitchen is still trying to work things out.

   Lunch on a Saturday at Hotel Petersburg was a vibe in itself! Beautifully restored where old world charm and modern upscale meet. Service was excellent and food was delicious. Table of 4 was extremely happy and will be back!
