Simar Seafood Cocina is Austin's premier Coastal Mexican seafood restaurant. We specialize in raw seafood delicacies like fresh oysters on a half shell, shrimp aguachiles and a variety of ceviche. Our chef signature dishes also include hot items like USDA Prime cut Ribeye steak, Scallops in a ancho chile burre blanc and Red Snapper ala Veracruz. Offering a fresh and family friendly atmosphere and patio seating. We are located in the Gateway Shopping Center and offer ample parking. It is our privilege to serve you and be part of the community.

    They were trying some Broadway event there in the main dining and it was BEYOND loud. Were seating people not there for one event on the patio where service was it good. You could still hear the LOUD music and people on microphones emceeing that event. Food was good but will not be back.

    We catched an event and was loud, but don’t think is the same way everyday. Food is really good, but prices could be lower due to the portions. Service was nice and they even have a small area for kids! Overall is really good!

    We had a great experience for our first time. The seafood broth as a complimentary appetizer was delicious as were both salsas and tortilla chips. It felt like we were transported back to Puerta Vallarta! The service was top notch, drinks were yummy and food was excellent. We also got to listen to live music. I cannot wait to go back!

    It's a simple place, with simple decor. Much of the food is fried, and we were unwilling to try anything featuring cream cheese, but we enjoyed the branzino and thought the Veracruz-style snapper was pretty good too. Service was dreadful. The manager served us, and explained that he was busier than he expected. Somehow, he never managed to connect with us, and we felt like maybe we weren't his kind of people.

    The coconut shrimp was my favor excellent food. The surface was very dry as well.

    Excellent preparation, well presented, with thoughtful servers. Unfortunately there is not a crowd. Part of the problem is Google maps.it can be hard to find
