For nearly two decades, SIMPLE بسيط has been more than a restaurant—it’s been a gathering place, a home away from home, and a reflection of the ever-evolving Williamsburg community. Founded in 2006, it started as a humble spot and grew into a French-Algerian kitchen where flavors tell a story of heritage, migration, and creativity.

Chef-owner Sam, born in France to Algerian parents, brings a deeply personal touch to the menu, with dishes like tajine zitoune, lamb couscous ( 9/10 from french morning ), tchoutchouka, and chorba, alongside French staples such as onion soup, steak frites.... Every plate carries a sense of tradition, paired with natural wines and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

SIMPLE بسيط is a place where conversations unfold over shared meals, where familiar faces return, and where new guests quickly feel at home. As we approach our 19th year, we invite you to be part of this journey—one that has always been about good food, good company, and a love for community.

We came here for brunch, and while the place looks lovely and charming, the music was unbearably loud. We couldn’t hear each other and had to practically shout to have a conversation. They mentioned that an event was happening, but it wasn’t starting for another hour—yet they still refused to lower the volume. Leaving felt like a relief for my ears. The food was pretty good, but the overwhelming music made the experience uncomfortable

We were looking for a place to pick up an incense holder and stumbled upon this spot through its beautiful store inside the restaurant. Drawn in by the incredible aromas and inviting setup, we decided to stay for brunch—and we’re so glad we did. Everything about this place was just right. As much as we’d love to keep it a hidden gem, more people need to know how amazing it is. From the delicious food to the exceptional service and the thoughtful attention to detail, every aspect of our experience was top-notch. We absolutely love it here!

THIS is one of the nicest places I've been to, in what was my childhood neighborhood, Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Simple created a great time, on a busy Valentine's Day for them; service, meal and ambience couldn't be better. I look forward to returning soon.
