   Located in a previously abandoned seaside mall, this restaurant is the second location of the Jamaican chain, the first being at 673 Atlantic Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11217. Despite service being a little slow, the food -- braised oxtail with brown rice and vegetables for her, curried goat stew with white rice and vegetables for me, sharing a macaroni and cheese appetizer -- was perfectly cooked and delicious. I had a chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream and a cherry with hot fudge for dessert. This place should be packed every night, and here's hoping that they maintain the excellent quality.

   We waited over 2 hours for our food. Our waiter did not come back to see if we needed more water, drinks etc. until we complained to the hostess. I ordered the stewed snapper and rice/peas. They brought me white rice without and explanation. I was not told they were out of rice/peas. I haven’t eaten white rice in decades. Waiter blamed the slow food roll out with the kitchen but her service was bad too. We understand she doesn’t control the kitchen but her coming to explain what was going on would have been a little helpful although waiting for food over 2 hours is unacceptable. Plus, should not get an attitude with us. Communication is the key! The fish was good although it looked like brown stew in the photo; it was red bass when it came out. Everything else gets poor rating.

   Sooooo I had to give this location another try after I went October, 2024 and go to the Brooklyn one often and I am glad I did. Much better and nowwwww tastes like Brooklyn! Also Chef was there and it was good to see him (also saw him 3 weeks ago in Brooklyn) so it is good to know that he is frequent at both locations. I always get the oxtails w/rice and peas and veggies and my daughter had the jerk shrimp w/rice and peas and veggies and they were both top tier. The brooklyn drink was also a strong hit! :-) Will be back .. to both locations of course

   Sorry but I have no experience to review. We we arrived at this restaurant and it was CLOSED. There was no notice posted so I have no idea what happened. I visit AC at least 2-3 times per year and have never had this type of problem at any other restaurant. Doubt I will try again due to bad business practices.

   The place has a great atmosphere and the vibe was good. My reservation was scheduled for 730pm. I arrived at 715pm with my lady, the host seated us 5min later. We were introduced to our waiter and she greeted us and said that she'll be with us momentarily. Well 20mins later after waiting patiently, I stopped the hostess and complained about not being seen. She noticed 2 empty seats at the bar and asked if we wanted to sit there at that point I'd rather sit there than be forgotten about. She also asked if we were ready to order and she would put our order in if so. We ordered and had drinks, 20mins later our first appetizer came out of the two we ordered. We finished the appetizer and was waiting for the second one to come and it never came. We asked the bartender about the appetizer he pleasantly went to the kitchen a got it for us. Twenty minutes later the entree came. The food was great, the vibe was great. The place needs more staff and a strong person to manage the service quality. The bartender was on point, the hostess was very helpful and apologetic. This place has great potential, customer service is everything in this business. Overall 3 stars, due to excessive wait time. Hopefully they fix the problem, it was several others complaining about the same thing. I want to see them make it because the food is amazing....
