About this restaurant

Set in a gorgeous Grade II-listed Georgian villa, the decor is bright and modern but respects the building’s elegance and heritage.

The food, too, respects classical tradition, but is a contemporary take on British cuisine - combining influences from around the world in dishes based on fabulous impeccably sourced seasonal ingredients.

Enjoy an aperitif in one of the elegant lounges in the older part of the building before moving on to the sleek restaurant with its blonde wood beams, exposed stone walls and bi-fold doors opening onto the garden.

The knowledge and experience of Head Chef Luke Tipping shows through in the assured, confident nature of the cooking – and he has the skill to know when to hold back. Dishes are balanced and pure, with subtle modern touches and a pleasing clarity of flavour; be sure to try the signature tapenade bread rolls and delicious soufflés.

Service is enthusiastic and brims with personality.

    Eureka, our superbly equipped cookery school and development kitchen, is about discovery. Discovering the skills and techniques used by Simpsons chefs to create delicious dishes. And discovering and unleashing your own culinary talents. Our cookery classes are a hands-on experience, with chefs helping you create fabulous contemporary dishes. The Eureka Kitchen is priced at £195 per person, to include lunch. If you have a voucher, please give our office a call to book a place!     When we arrived we were taken to our table, the restaurant was extremely busy and loud. Throughout the night everything took so long, huge gaps between eating, then others brought out straight after each other. One of the waiters apologised for the wait, so we understand this would not be normal. The food was great, but the business and delayed service ruined it for us unfortunately. And when you are paying so much, you expect more.

    A little rushed to begin with, maybe as we had an early booking, just after opening, but otherwise excellent food and service. Large table adjacent to us, changed the atmosphere half way through our visit, but not to the detriment of the overall experience

    An absolutely delightful afternoon spent celebrating a friends 50th Birthday. Simpsons were so attentive and added some lovely touches such as a hand written card from all the staff, personalised dessert and a box of chocolates to take home. All of that on top of a very special and utterly delicious 5 course vegetarian tasting menu.

    Fabulous lunch today. We have visited Simpsons for lunch a few times now …. It’s such a treat. Our lunch today we both agreed was the best so far and the best thing we have eaten for a loooong time. Service as always fantastic. Shout out to Freddie who was fabulous. Can’t wait to return.

    A beautiful Sunday Lunch - the service fantastic, personable and really helpful. The dining room is a gorgeous open setting with a great ambience. We had the 3-course Sunday Lunch and it was brilliant value for money, especially for the amount of skill and preparation clearly involved in bringing the dishes together. The knowledge of the wines to match the dish and provide something a little different was also great. Whilst there are some brilliant modern restaurants in Birmingham, there is so much to be said for understated, high-quality classics. Birmingham should remember what a gem it has.
