   The new menu is an improvement, and the new tables (without tablecloths) are smart but less sumptuous (this must be a massive saving for the restaurant, which I didn't see being passed on to the customers). The food choices were traditional and well-presented. The cheese souffle was a heavenly starter, and I had the shepherd's pie to follow, which was uncomplicated and tasty. For dessert, I had the rice pudding, which was equally delicious and well-presented. The service was exemplary and friendly. Overall, it is a significant improvement over the previous incarnation.

   I love Skylon. - we visit often. The combination of the welcome, staff service, beautiful food and a fabulous view of London just ticks all the boxes to a good experience - whatever time of day or week you visit!

   I specifically said it was mine and my friends 50th birthday when booking the table. When arrived there was no knowledge of my table booking and just go to a table that is available. So he we was no gesture or happy birthday which is a real shame. The waiter who served the drinks was attentive and friendly in any event. But when making a booking and asking if it’s a special occasion was not taken into consideration

   Booked at the bar because normal seating was full. Wasn’t aware that meant we could only order bar snacks - no proper food. Very misleading as this was not indicated when we booked. Won’t book again

   We are big fans of Skylon - the location, ambiance and service have always been first class; no difference this time. We went post afternoon theatre and were sorry to see the pre and post theatre offering dropped for the moment. The cured salmon was divine and the fish pie was - well fish pie. We both felt the vegetable masala lacked some flavour and spice when compared to the Thai green curry that was a previous staple on the menu. I had forgotten that I had written Birthday in the Open Table 'special occasion' box until someone brought a small brownie with a candle on it singing Happy Birthday - a nice touch. Overall we loved our evening with a special mention for the service that was thoughtful and attentive but discrete.

    Food was disappointing. Selected a main course Caesar Salad, was delivered what appeared to be the starter version with a few additional pieces of chicken thrown in. My wife's crab starter had a derisory quantity of crab meat, delivered in a crab shell perched crookedly in a bowl. All very sub-standard and not what would be expected in a quality restaurant like the Skylon
