When we sat down two of our seats directly faced the sunset. It was blinding for about +1hr, a blind should be placed in the stairwell. Food: lobster appetizer was was cooked well. The yuzu compo overpowered the caviar, it should not it be on there. Caviar was a little dark...we got 1oz of Kaluga & Beluga and 1oz of Siberian Sturgeon...so quality is questionable. Most of the food was salty. The beet salad and the risotto were on the edge for me...I didn't know if they were good, matching ingredients, or off balance of flavors. The kampachi ragout was so salty it was uneatable. The steak course was severely undercooked. We ordered medium-rare, but we got rare/blue! Service: if we are paying $50/bottle foe corkage why would you ask us to open our open bottle? The bartender that opened our Champaign was great! He most likely worked at a high end restaurants. The food runners were knowledgeable and open hand service was used. When told about the severely undercooked steaks, we were asked if we wanted them cooked more!...when steak is cut and you reheat them in an oven it's not the same...they should have re-plated the whole dish. Overall, service and food was lacking. I probably wouldn't come back again.

Aloha Mr. Yoshi, We deeply regret that your experience did not reflect the high standards we strive to uphold at Solera. We thank you for your detailed feedback and sincerely regret the discomfort caused by the sun. We will be reviewing ways to address this issue to ensure comfort moving forward. Regarding food quality, we’re glad to hear you enjoyed the lobster, but we’re sorry that the balance of flavors in the caviar fell short. Our kitchen aims for precision and we missed the mark during your meal. It is disappointing to hear you were asked to open your own bottle. That certainly isn’t the level of hospitality we aim for, though we’re glad our bartender’s professionalism showed. I will be reaching out directly and would appreciate the chance to speak further and welcome you back.

When it was La Vie it was exceptional in every way as you would expect from a Ritz Carlton restaurant. Then in January we went for a family birthday and things had really gone downhill but the manager and server did an outstanding job trying to make up for the overall problems of the evening. We were told that changes were coming and to please give them another chance. We tried again, new name and new menu and same lousy service and poor food as we experienced in January. We were seated for over an hour before our entrees came which came before our salads and starters. The fish was so overcooked - inexcusable for any respectable kitchen on Oahu. Desserts were complimentary as they should be since they were terrible. The worst part was nobody on staff was aware and our waiter just made excuses. There didn’t seem to be anyone in charge or overseeing the dining room. If there is a manager at this Ritz Carlton, they should be ashamed.

This is one of the restaurants in the Ritz Carlton. Living in Honolulu, we go here regularly for breakfast. The prices have continued to increase and likely have reached an uncompetitive point for us and we’ll start going elsewhere. It’s a shame as the staff is wonderful!

The people are very kind, and the service is excellent. Cocktails and wines were good. The food is mediocre at best. It was all bland and poorly cooked. It's far too expensive for the quality of food they're serving.
