About this restaurant

St Clement's is a Michelin Award winning Restaurant with a BIB Gourmand in the Michelin Guide 2010, Good Food Guide 2010 and Harden's Guide 2010. Having visited Hastings on a few day trips from London, I soon realised its potential for a restaurant - particularly a Fish Restaurant. The local Fleet's catch was very appealing: Dover Sole, Skate, Gurnard and Sea Bass just for starters. All straight off the boat and on the table by lunch time. I couldn't stop myself. We opened St Clement's with the intention of serving well-sourced fish, meat and vegetables, all local and seasonable as possible. This allows our menus and our style of food to flow naturally.

The restaurant was full on the Sat night my partner and I visited; we had the early sitting 7-9pm. Service was friendly and efficient. Food however was mixed. My partner's wood-pigeon salad starter and brill main were both excellent - especially the brill in its gorgeous crab cream sauce. My duck & pork terrine however was average while my slow-cooked pork belly, was largely fat with very little meat at all. Both were disappointing. On the whole though, I would recommend this restaurant but would probably stick to the fish if I had the opportunity to return (we are not from the area).

We were looking forward to a return trip to St Clements, having not been for dinner for several years. When we arrived the restaurant had been re-arranged for a large party (20+) with just a couple of smaller tables to one side. The group was loud and drunk, swearing and generally being distasteful! We had a main course each and quickly left. While I'm all for restaurants making money it would have been much better if St Clements had closed for a private party for the night. I would have been disappointed that I couldn't go there for dinner, but not as disappointed as I was with the service and the experience we ended up having. Poor show!

The food, ambience and service were all extremely good, we intend to return. We visited for a special occasion and were not disappointed. We also had very good wine recommendations perfect for the food we were eating - locally caught fresh fish and large interesting salad. The only regret I have is that I had no room for desert, which sounded delicious, I will just have to go back asap!

Lovely little restaurant, great for close groups of four or couples. Fish/seafood dishes were all delicious, service was good too. Prices weren't un-deserving, but think you hope to pay less for fish on the coast for some reason. In saying that though, would return there and if we were local, we would definitely take family & visiting friends for a treat.

Had a great meal at St Clements on Saturday. Really friendly establishment. Good menu selection. I had the 3 course set meal which was lovely, and my partner had the a la carte. Salt fish chowder, and broad bean, pea and feta soup both delicious. Lamb rack and cod cooked perfectly. Dessert immensly chocolatey! Varied wine at reasonable prices, by the glass, pichet or bottle. The food was tasty, well presented and I would definitly visit again. Really enjoyed the ambience which was not stuffy - very friendly all round, which to me is just as important as the quality of the food.

on a weekend away in Hastings we were reccomended to eat at St Clements by our hotel & it was a great reccomendation. The staff were very friendly & were happy to fit us in on a busy friday night with space for our pram with a sleeping baby in it. The food was great & it was good value for such a smart restaurant. We had to wait a little too long for our main course but to make up for it they gave us a free cocktail so we were more than satisfied!

Great food and brilliant service at a price that would get mediocrity if you're lucky in London.

Food absolutely delicious! Great atmosphere! If I have to be picky, I'd say that our waitress could have been a tad more attentive and that the main course came out a bit too quickly following our starters. However, we both went for fish and the dishes we chose were fabulous (scallops and Hastings fish cakes followed by cod with bubble and squeek and the lemon sole (a special on the day)). We still had room for desert and the apple and cinnamon tart was incredibly light (deceptively so) and the welsh rarebit just perfect! I'd definately recommend this restaurant and we felt it was good value as well. The friendly pub next door is a bonus!
