Established in 1959, owners Jenny Youll and Mike Sabina expanded the once small coffeehouse of St. Michaels Alley into this intimate dining establishment in 2009. The restaurant provides three comfortable spaces for a dinner out with friends, date night, or a complete private event. The main dining room is wood paneled and intimate. The front room / bar area is more casual and social, yet still offers tables with linens and the full menu. The solid wood bar is a favorite dining spot for many of the regulars and locals. A beautiful outdoor patio is most enjoyable on warm summer days and nights as it open to the sky. Enjoy a cocktail at the full bar before venturing into one of the upscale and relaxed dining spaces of St. Michael's Alley.

The restaurant is currently offering the Autumn Menu on the Patio as well as takeout, Tuesday through Sunday starting at 5pm.

We have dined at St. Mike's for many years now with an English friend who makes an annual trip in late winter to early spring to the Bay Area. It has been a tradition and is always a highlight of his visit. The food, service, and ambiance have been excellent during both the four years since the pandemic lock downs ended and in the years before the pandemic. I have nothing but good things to say about St. Mike's.

We intended to eat on the patio but chose the dining room upon arrival. The ambiance was perfect with only a couple of tables left during our late dinner. Food, wine, and service were great.

Our server was lovely and gracious - personalized a birthday song for my mother in law too. The desserts were all excellent and so was my chicken pot pie entree. I feel like charging for bread is a wee bit silly, given the price point for items. The noise level is significant to the point of feeling a bit overwhelming, but the overall ambiance of the dining room in which we were housed was lovely and largely offset the irritation for needing to shout to be heard.

Good food, good service and no one tried to make us leave even though we were there a long time. St Michaels is always good.

Wonderful neighborhood restaurant where the sum of the parts each of which is quite good add up to an excellent dining experience.

Great dining opportunity from appetizers to dessert, especially the profiteroles. A great & reasonably priced wine list. All in all, a definite destination!

This is our 3rd experience here in 6 months. The other two were fabulous. We sat outside and the service was great. The Piot by the glass was limited to two big domestic pinot's. It would be great to have a lighter choice and maybe French. The mushroom cake was divine. The frisee salad was small and could hardly taste the truffle vinnigrette dressing, and replace the macadamia nuts with something more astringent, like walnuts. The chicken pot pastry was fabulous but the filling needed more salt and tarragon otherwise it was kinda bland. The rack of lamb really needed to have the ends of the chops wrapped. Ours were not and they were charcoal, which then spread all over the table when seperating the chops. The choolate mousse was delicious but the orange creme anglesse didnt smash it. I would've done a vanilla creme anglesse or a raspberry. Overall, we like St Mikes but they didn't crush it last night

We've dined at St. Michael's for nearly 30 yrs and this was the worse experience we've had dining anywhere. We arrived at 5:15pm and wasn't asked for our drinks nor food order for more than 30 mins. We didn't receive our entrees for nearly 2 hrs. Multiple mistakes were made including missed drinks, overcooking the $56 steak and charging for bread we didn't order. It took more than 3 hrs for this experience to conclude. This was my husband's birthday celebration but he was so disappointed with the experience that it ruined what I had hoped would be a lovely evening as it had in the past at St. Michael's.
