We came for the Mother's Day brunch. The food was in warming trays, not very warm though. The juice was not chilled. The waffles, I kid you not, were Eggo waffles. The steak was overdone for our taste, and no au jus for prime rib? The salad bar was great and the desserts were excellent. Very overpriced for the experience though. We'll try a different place next year.

I loved Steak & Ale 25 years ago when the one on the Bloomington strip was still open. I was hopeful that this newer one would be as good. The seating is odd and uncomfortable. When you first walk in, it feels like they just acquired the space and are filling it with old furniture that doesn’t fit, and doesn’t appear to be arranged with any sort of overall plan. The booth where we were seated was too small for four adults. The bench seats were tilted slightly forward and the table was very close on both sides. Our server introduced himself and took our drink order. A few minutes later, the bartender came over and said she was going to wait on our table. The other server was waiting on the booth next to us, and that felt odd because we’d been friendly and pleasant - no idea why he’d opt not to wait on us, but was fine waiting on the people who came in after us. The restaurant was not crowded. Our new server was pleasant and friendly and very good at her job. She took our drink order again, and this time we got our drinks. When our food came, the presentation was pretty awful. Our steaks had just been plopped on a large plate with no effort made to look appetizing. As the staff was clearing the appetizer dishes, a large amount of sauce from one of the dishes spilled onto the tablecloth directly in front of one of us. There was no effort to clean up the spill - the entree was just plopped down in the middle of the spill. One of us had ordered their steak medium rare, and it was brown all the way through. We sent it back and got a replacement that was maybe medium. They re-served the new steak with the same side order of hash browns, which had gotten cold and had been microwaved and dried out completely. One of us ordered their steak rare and it was also overcooked. Our total (with a 23% tip - the bartender/server was very good) was over $400 for four people. We probably won’t be back - Porterhouse does everything better, with the exception of the salad bar.

I reserved a table for 1130 (today, 5/10/25) and advised it was my moms birthday (didn’t expect anything but thought it may be like most restaurants.) Got into the restaurant, told the waitress again it was my mom’s birthday, no response at all. We ordered the spinach artichoke app and it came out COLD, I took it home to try and reheat it, terrible. We got the salad bar that comes with soup & both the French onion and chicken tortilla were so bad we couldn’t eat them. The waitress advised she would need to try them to make sure they were okay enough to serve the rest of the day. The salad bar was clean and had decent options, but the cost for uneaten soup and a $15 cold appetizer was insane. Service was slow and the restaurant was not busy at all. This was my first experience here and it was not a good one. $52 I will not be spending here ever again.

Great “select your own omelet”. Service seemed to be shorthanded. Would still go again.

Service was subpar. Server forgot about us, we had to seek them out for our bill. Food was not that good either. Will not go back

We ordered three of the 8 oz filets. Two were very good. The third was thin and had way too much gristle to be called a filet mignon. Spitting out inedible meat reminds me of a sirloin at Applebees. The salad bar was great, but where are the imitation bacon bits?

Pretty underwhelming experience. The food was just okay—definitely not worth the price. Service was very slow despite the restaurant being nearly empty. Wouldn’t go out of my way to return.

We went to celebrate our 38th anniversary. The lobster was cold. The porterhouse steak was ordered medium rare, came well done. The servers were good brought out a new steak- a pasty grey thin piece of rare meat 🤦‍♀️. For as much as the server tried, we will never go back. It is too expensive to have another bad meal.
