                                                                                        This was our first time at Stellar Jay, and we were delighted with everything. Our server Preston was very gracious and attentive - he had a wonderful sense of how we wanted to be served. The manager Rhea (we had met before during a tour of the Populus, which they run on Thursdays) came over to say hello - she was lovely and calm. This beautiful restaurant was nearly full on a Monday night. The food was fantastic - the two of us split an appetizer (mushroom tempura), entree (steak skewers) and vegetable (beets). Everything was delicious. We were surprised at how big the portions were and ended up taking leftovers home, which the staff not only kindly boxed but labeled and bagged.

                                                                                        This place should be called Mediocre Jay’s at best and here’s why: Tempura mushroom: very little flavor if any without the (lightly flavored) sauce. Radicchio salad: the flavor combination was funky. It was oddly smokey and much too salty but we were so hungry that we forced it down. Centennial flatiron steak: we asked for this medium rare and it came out medium well and drier than a roasted chicken. No flavor, even with the crunchy garlic topping. Ruby red trout: served burnt skin side up. Whose idea was it to put all the flavor and seasoning on the burnt skin that you don’t eat? The only flavor that the fish underneath had was fish… much too fishy. To sum it all up, atmosphere is great, service was mediocre at best (sent an item back and manager never came over) and food was not all worth the hype. To be fair, the restaurant is only 5 weeks old but the menu should at least be taste tested before a place like this opens its doors.

                                                                                        Was excited to try this new Denver rooftop venue but left very underwhelmed. No HH or drinks specials and limited menu offerings. Staff were super attentive and keen - there seemed to be so many of them that they were rushing to serve anyone they could! Issues with seating as sat next to the exit door and the bar. The bar kept opening the window (they must have been hot) but the cold draft was directed at our table. Despite three separate requests to move they didn’t seem to want to so just didn’t come back to the table.
