A contemporary take on the classic oyster bar, located in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, near BAM, Barclay's, the Paramount, and Atlantic Terminal.

Strange Delight finds its influence in New Orleans and is also inspired by the rich history of oysters in New York. Our menu consists of regional seafood prepared in a variety of styles: Charbroiled Oysters and Shrimp Remoulade share the stage with classic seafood towers and Oysters Rockefeller. A rotating selection of larger plates features items such as Black Cod Almondine and Blackened Swordfish Belly.

To drink, Strange Delight updates old classics, serving both a Hurricane and Ramos Gin Fizz service for 2, alongside Martinis and Sazeracs. Our wine and beer lists feature our favorite American producers.

We offer 3 distinct types of reservations:
Regular: a table in our back dining room
Bar: seats at our back dining room bar
High-top: a higher table with bar stools in our front room with an open kitchen and oyster counter.

PLEASE NOTE: These reservations are intended for those who just want to stop in to grab a sandwich and a drink as part of our sandwich pop-up series (LIVE, LAUGH, LOAF) rather than join us for a full meal. For parties of 1-2, there is a one hour limit on the table; and for 3-4, a 90 minute limit. If interested in full dinner and more time with us, please book a regular reservation! Details below: We’ve partnered with some of our favorite food friends for a sandwich series that runs every Monday to Wednesday through the end of May. Check out our instagram for the full line-up. We’re thrilled to share what we’ve cooked up with this diverse crew, and we’ll release more about each sandwich in the days leading up to launch. $5 of each sandwich sold will go to a charity of the collaborators choosing. All you have to do is show up hungry and ready to happy hour.

A fun place with a good vibe and interesting decor. The food, however, outrageously overpriced. Barbecue shrimp dish with 4 prawns priced over $30. “Grand remoulade” the size of a medium cereal portion (albeit with a side of crudités) $38!!!! and overly spicy, masking the flavor of seafood. Basket of fried oysters, also over $30, contained 5 bland oysters and a whole lot of french fries. The $27 catfish sandwich was the best-balanced dish. The hush puppies - 5 for $12 - were not overpriced and pretty good. Crab dip was good but, again, too expensive. They did give us free dessert: 2 small portions of bread pudding for the 4 of us and it was tasty.

My wife and I had read about Strange Delight in The New Yorker and were excited about dining there. Unfortunately, on the day of our reservation, my wife was very much under the weather. We almost cancelled but finally decided to go and sample what we could. Unexpectedly, we had a lovely evening, largely because our server—Miranda— tuned into my wife's needs and recommended a meal that was exactly what she needed. As a result, we didn't explore all of Strange Delight's many delicacies ... but we did have a memorable evening. Our experience reminds us that dining out is not just about the food. It's also about the server's ability to listen, interpret, and communicate. Many thanks to Miranda. We'll be back.

So nice! We arrived 20 minutes late as Streetcar ran way long. i knew the kitchen was closing and was worried we would be out of luck. The woman (manager?) at the door was so nice. Sat us, took our order personally and i know her shift was over and we saw her leave when we were sitting. That was incredibly gracious, as was the server who took over. we shall definitely return next time we go to BAM - hopefully for a shorter play!!
