Enjoy unapologetically authentic Thai food in the East End. All food is made from scratch by native Thai chef and James Beard Award winner for Best Chef: Texas Benchawan Jabthong Painter.

Chef Benchawan and her husband—who also spend time in their Bangkok home each year—have painstakingly built out a restaurant that would fit into Bangkok’s hip Thong Lor neighborhood, but they have located it in Houston. Expect trendy Thai vibes, music, strong cocktails and an adventurous wine list to accompany Chef Benchawan’s acclaimed dishes.

When booking your reservation, all children—regardless of age—must be included in the head count. The largest party Street to Kitchen can accommodate is 6 people. If more than 6, you can arrange a private Thai tasting menu, including a minimum spend. Please contact us via email at eatthai@streettokitchen.org.

Street To Kitchen delivers "amazing food" with "total unique flavors," offering a vibrant dining experience reminiscent of "being back in Bangkok." While the spice level is high, it's well-explained by the attentive staff. Service is generally "great" but can be "a bit slow." The ambiance is lively, making it a "hidden gem" in Houston.

Amazing dinner with husband and friends. Shared small plates, whole branzino Ann’s two other dishes. Fantastic service from front of house to servers!

We have been big fans for a long time, celebrating many family birthdays at StK dating back to its earliest days in the old location. I booked tonight with a note that we were celebrating a 20th wedding anniversary, and even called in to ask that they serve 2 glasses of champagne to celebrate when we arrived. (I did not expect this to be provided for free, rather that this would be our first drink course.) This was a surprise for my wife. On the continuum of special requests, this seems very reasonable. When we arrived they had a hard time finding the reservation (despite having spoken to me fewer than 6 hours earlier and noting my request on the reservation). There was no mention of our anniversary, and no champagne as discussed. Instead we sat unattended for over 15 minutes without even water. The service throughout the evening could best be describe as minimalist. We had to ask a neighboring server for a 2nd drink partway through the meal as we had finished our water and cocktails. The food was spectacular as always, but sadly I cannot recommend Street to Kitchen for any sort of special occasion dinner.

Fantastic. We shared the pork satay to start, served with a curry sauce, then split both the drunken noodles and the cashew chicken. Chef isn’t playing when it comes to spice levels- listen carefully to your server and choose cautiously. We went with mild and it was the just the right amount for us. Flavors are outstanding, and the cashew chicken was some of the best I’ve ever had. No room for dessert, unfortunately- but plans to go back and eat our way through the menu are being formed. Great night!

Street to Kitchen has substantially abbreviated its lunch menu since the last time I visited. I was so looking forward to enjoying another bowl of Tom Kha Gai, but learned that it is no longer on the lunch menu. In fact, it is only on the dinner menu from time to time when the chef feels like preparing it. Moreover, Instead of the variety of items available for lunch during my last visit, this time there was a shortened list of dishes that were described as the “chef’s preferences.” Very few of the chef’s preferences appealed to me, in contrast to my last visit when I had trouble selecting from the many dishes that tempted me. I ended up ordering the chicken and cashew entree, which was fine, but certainly not what I would have preferred. Notably, the restaurant was almost empty, another sharp contrast from my last visit. Between the menu change and the restaurant’s obscure location, I’m unlikely to return.

Food was amazing. Not too spicy for the Thai liver and full of flavor. We left with warm full bellies. Don’t miss out on the Yum Kai Dao. The movie posters are very cool.

Great food, the staff was presumptuous at best. The gentleman running food and bussing the table was very nice. They insisted on telling us how the meal should be handled so we were not allowed to order an appetizer while we looked over the drink menu. Seated under an air vent asked to move but told the other tables were reserved. We were 1 of 2 tables seated. When we left they were less than half full. Went elsewhere for dessert did not feel very welcomed.

The food was flavourful and fresh. A party in your mouth!! Loved the level of spice. The cocktails were delicious too.
