Takai by Kashiba is a fine dining Edo-Mae style Sushi restaurant that specializes exclusively in nigiri sushi.
Sushi Counter dining is solely Chef's Omakase, with two seatings at 5:30 and 7:30.
Omakase is also available at our dining room tables along with a la carte Sushi options.
We do not have vegan/vegetarian/kids menus. We are able to accommodate most allergies.

Led by Chef Jun Takai, the Omakase consists of local and international seafood accompanied with Kaiseki style dishes. Takai by Kashiba creates an elegant atmosphere whether you're seated at a table or the sushi counter.

Omakase style drink pairings are also available along with a thoughtful selection of Sake, Wine and Japanese Whisky.

The just nominated for James Beard Award, Chef Jun, served his Omakase to us at the sushi counter and it was completely mind blowing. Thank you, Chef for an incredible experience!!

I was a little disappointed by this place, given the great reviews I’ve seen. The sushi was okay, and nothing really stood out. At times, it felt like their non-sushi items were better and tastier. I think the one thing I didn’t like the most was Uni. I’ve had really good Uni before and this was not one of them. For the price that they’re offering, I expected more.

The omakase was somewhat disappointing, with most of the dishes being premium nigiri, while the other offerings were just average. Services are superb.

Really enjoyed our dinner last night. We each ordered the nigiri set and shared several Ala Carte selections. Everything was well prepared, sushi was very fresh and rice perfectly seasoned. The sake selection was excellent and reasonably priced. We loved the minimalist decor, which still had a warm vibe. Tables are well appointed in the dining room giving each party some privacy. And if you take a coat, do check it in with the receptionist as you will be pleasantly surprised when you retrieve it at the end of the evening. Nice job Takai by Kashiba!

One of the best omakase sushi experience Seattle has to offer. Chef Jun Takai used to work at Shiro’s under the tutorage of luminous Mr Shiro Kashiba. Jun-san opened his own sushi restaurant, Takai by Kashiba about two years ago in Bellevue. Many fish come from Japan and he uses some local fish also. Authentic omakase sushi. Highly recommended.

Truly one of the top 5 meals of my life. This brought be back to Japan in flavors but had textures that my American palette likes. My husband and I can't stop talking about how amazing it was to sit at the counter and watch Chef Jun work his magic. Every bite was better than the last. The staff were all incredibly attentive, we even had our coats returned warm from a heated closet to top off an amazing evening. Highly recommend this experience and if you enjoy tea, do the tea pairing it was so worth it!
