Review summary

AI-generated from verified diner reviews
The Ahwahnee Hotel offers a majestic dining experience with a "spectacular" dining room and "attentive" service. Currently, due to renovations, the dinner is buffet-style, which has received mixed reviews. While the prime rib and ambiance are highly praised, some diners find the buffet "mediocre." Perfect for those seeking a unique Yosemite dining adventure amidst stunning architecture.

They have switched to a buffet format at dinner which was a surprise to us. The food was erratic. The pork and prime rib looked like they had been under the warming light too long. The rock fish was cold, The desert options were all room temperature pastries. For two without drinks, we paid $160+ after tax and tip. A very poor value and a very poor meal.

Wait staff under staffed for sure. Nice people, but all somehow a bit off. Our waiter always looked so harried and stressed that we hated to bother them. Another waiter (thank goodness not ours) spent 5-10 minutes at a time regaling blank faced guests at other tables about the trials and tribulations of his life. The chef slicing the roast beef looked annoyed when being called upon to get off of her stool and actually slice meat. Food was above average buffet food… but still a buffet. Finally: the insulting $10 fee to “validate” valet parking is just stupid. The large dining room with its high open beam ceiling is quite spectacular and perhaps in and of itself worth the price of admission. Still, I’d expect an overall more professional presentation and a better food experience.

What happen to the Ahwahnee? I will not bore you with the comedy of errors that was my experience. Instead I will tell you, that you will receive below average food at a high price $150/couple no alcohol plus tip for food that was lukewarm at best. Service was lacking, staff appeared stretched . Only a bad buffet is available no individual dinners. Such a grand place that has fallen into decay that may jeopardize its viability as a motel 6.

We have had breakfast in the dining room at the Ahwahnee for many years. It used to be a buffet with option to order from the menu, but with construction happening on the kitchen this year it was just a buffet. A very small buffet. Gone is the omelette station, fresh fruit, waffles. This was a lukewarm offering that I would expect to see at a much cheaper price point. So underwhelming.

Came to celebrate the night of our elopement as a special dinner Dec 30th to come to find out they’re only doing a dinner buffet…where there were minimal options, food was coming out SO slow and it just wasn’t what I was expecting food wise. The ambiance of the dinning hall was stunning but wish the food matched the value.. we paid $70/pp for basically nothing. Some of us had dietary restrictions and again couldn’t eat anything. I would genuinely call this a waste of time especially if you’re someone who likes taste in their food do not go for their buffet. Also I wish they posted these things online before someone has the opportunity to book because in my eyes that’s false advertising.. and will be a big let down ESPECIALLY because this was our first time in Yosemite.
