   The Back Street has fast become our go to place to eat out in Dumfries. Consistently good food and good service. The menu changes frequently so always something new to try. Highly recommend.

   The restaurant is ok. There’s little option for good food in dumfries and this restaurant is one of the better ones. Nice that they haven’t crammed too many tables in.

   Visited at 7:30pm on a Saturday evening as two couples. Restaurant was busy without being totally full. Waitress was helpful in taking us to our table. Service for drinks was fast. Pina Colada cocktails were particularly good. There are only 10 dishes on the mains & the first two we chose were both unavailable which we thought was very poor considering the relatively few options. We thought we should have been made aware of the limited choses when we were given the menus. Unfortunately this probably clouded our experience. The food we did choose was pleasant & Service prompt. Overall we enjoyed what we had but were disappointed we couldn't have our first choice meals

   Went fo steak night.A fabulous steak with chips ,peppercorn sauce and portion of macaroni well presented and fabulous in taste.Service was quick efficient and very friendly.

   The service was initially fine. However while waiting for our food to arrive we noticed our waiter resting his head on the bar in full view of all diners. Later we saw fingers were used to add a raspberry to a drink - glad it wasn't mine. The food was fine, though what was on offer on the menu was less varied than i t has been in the past. After having seen our server laughing and chatting in the small entry to the kitchen for a while, I managed to signal that our table was ready to be cleared, we were offered the dessert menu, however when the menus arrived after a good 15 minutes the moment had passed, we mentioned this to the waitress and asked for the bill. The waitress shrugged her shoulders and said "ok". I said "no it is not ok - it is poor", to which she replied "this is not my table" We paid without leaving a tip, and left feeling disappointed. I felt particularly embarrassed to have brought my visitor here. I have enjoyed Backstreet many times previously and was certain it would be as good as previously, however the service was so poor I will have to think twice about going back.

   We made a booking for 17.15 and were seated in the middle of the restaurant but our social anxiety was gonna be a big problem so we asked to move and was promptly then we ordered drinks quickly and I got an espresso martini which was nice and smooth then ordered shortly after and we got this gorgeous smoked trout which worked quite well after that we had the chicken Kiev which was great especially the breadcrumbs and the Fish dish had. Crispy skin on top and a soft and delicate meat underneath and paired with a nice sauce Throughout we had great, quick, efficient service which has been rare in our trip thanks to Reagan and her team

    Had a lovely meal, a lovely restaurant, and the service was grand. Steak was perfect. Sadly noone was around or available to say goodbye or thank you to, but that's not the end of the world.
