The Barre, Arts Centre Melbourne’s sleek space, offers a touch of luxury and hint of showmanship. You’ll find a lively pre- and post-show buzz that takes the bar and eatery from early evening to late night.

The modern Australian menu, with its emphasis on fresh seasonal ingredients, offers both small and larger dishes to be shared and enjoyed with friends. Choose from a well-considered wine list with prominence to local winemakers, an exciting range of craft beers and ciders, or a distinct selection of cocktails and small-batch Australian gins and single malt whiskies.

The world of booze, bubbles and beers is ever-changing and The Barre is excited to also offer a range of alcohol-free options.

From a pre-show sparkling with a share plate, a meal with a fine wine or a mellow late-night drink, we invite you to join us at The Barre.

I was at the Barre for a celebratory lunch with my two granddaughters. We all agreed that the food, wine and service was exceptional. We loved the canapés as a starter matched with a glass of Alister Timms wine and each subsequent course matched with the wine was so delicious. I wish I knew how to make each dish. I liked the setup of the menu and the staff were very friendly and attentive led by Mat. I really have nothing detrimental to say, except for the windy day, although it was a nice idea to serve the entree or Prelude outside.

The noise level was extreme. The menu was poorly designed in that there was little option for a simple plain meal. Our waiter was helpful but could not compensate for the inadequacies made it a most disappointing dine out. Could not even get a bread roll.

Terrible food. Calamari impossible to cut. Scallops dreary and few. Cost of calamari removed from the bill. Good service

The two of us both had the baked snapper. Presented well but very little to actually eat. We will not return in a hurry.

We love going to The Barre when we go to a production at Hamer Hall. The food is always delicious and a pre dinner cocktail is a treat. Happy Hour is a wonderful offering. Service is great. I thoroughly recommend a visit to The Barre.

Smallish but adequate menu , food always good and service excellent. Best attribute is location and speed of food and drink delivery. They get you and fed and watered and on your way to a show without feeling rushed. Staff are always very pleasant and helpful.

The food was very good but both the duck and the lamb shank were warm rather than hot, which was very disappointing. We had pre-dinner drinks and ordered wine with our meal, but it did not arrive until we were nearly finished. Hot food and better timing and Barre would have been 9/10.
