The beaujolais nouveau evening was wonderful. As always, excellent food, wine and service. A local gem of a pub - see you all again soon.

A proper pub, with food quality at the top end of expectations. The staff were all very charming. Haven’t been for a while, but it’s back on my list.

Best meal I’ve had locally in some time. 4 of us for a birthday. Food was delicious. Two shared the beef wellington. Medium rare done to perfection. One stuffed chicken breast with loads of chicken. One with beef and ale pie which was a proper pie, not a ramekin with a pastry lid (which is not a pie, people). Sides were also delicious: harissa broccoli and buttered green beans. Fries were done perfectly. Two desserts tried were incredible: warm flapjack with panacotta and one treacle tart with mascarpone. Service was good too. Highly recommended.

Great lunch for two. Went for the set menu and had excellent roasted red pepper soup with cheese scones followed by venison pie, winter greens and fries. Polished off with a shared chocolate brownie and vanilla ice cream. All washed down with the excellent beer on offer. Service was very friendly, efficient and quick. Would definitely return.
