---The Berghoff Restaurant is a Chicago landmark, serving German-style cuisine and culture since 1898. One of the oldest family-run businesses in the nation, now run by the fourth generation, Pete Berghoff. Today's Berghoff menus have evolved to add newer, lighter, and more contemporary dishes, but it's still the same old Berghoff, down to the famous root beer. In December 2018, the Berghoff family opened Adams Street Brewery, aptly named after the street they have called home for over a century, to nod to their brewing roots and commemorate the restaurant's 120th anniversary.

    Asked for condiments and never received them and the customer service was not great. Also the added surcharge is not right at all.

    The food is still very good although I miss the German fried potatoes. Service was good although I had to ask for a water refill and the waiter took a long time. Otherwise it was great.

    Beers were great. I’ve had better food in Cleveland. We might have ordered more beers but our server was extremely slow. We had to ask a busboy to flag him down.

    This dinner was our special Christmas dinner while we were in town and it met our expectations. There was plenty of variety on the menu, and everything was delicious. There was a short wait even though we had a reservation, but it wasn’t a long wait and we saw Santa Claus while we stood so it was fun. The ambience was great and festive, and we all had a lovely time.

    Greeted immediately and sat right away. All the staff were fast and friendly. Drinks- root beer was good stoat was awesome. Soup a little too salty for us. Wiener Schnitzel A little bland. Had the flourless chocolate cake which was delicious but heavy. Will be back.

    Festive and fun with holiday decorations, lots of happy patrons, really great service! I highly recommend this place when in Chicago. The only caveat was my chicken schnitzel was slightly undercooked and parts of it were pink, so I did not eat those parts. The potato pancake apps were AMAZING!!!. Yule log dessert was divine and plenty for 3 of us to share.
