There was a time when dinner out meant pin curls and strong Manhattans. The music was up and the lights were low and the maître d’ had your table waiting. The Betty is that kind of place.

Inspired by mid-century American supper clubs, The Betty pays tribute to the continental menus of yesteryear. But while the dishes may sound comfortingly familiar, Chef Thomas’s approach is decidedly 21st century. Pair your entrée with a timeless cocktail, a selection from our robust wine list or an Atlanta-crafted beer.

Food was cold, service was up and down. They often forgot about us at our table, and forgot simple items (silverware, water, etc). Also, the guys at valet were very nice. However, the parking was a mess. There was no way for the cars to get in and out. Management cared more about stuffing cars in the parking lot rather than the process of retrieving your vehicle.

Service was poor. Had reservations and waited for 10 minutes at the hostess stand and 10 more at the table without getting a nod or glass of water. Food came cold. It tasted like it would have been very good at the right temperature so again poor service getting it out of the kitchen. Impossible to get a second drink. Shame that a lovely place couldn’t fulfill on the basics of dinner service.

We were seated in a restaurant 2/3 full late, the the waitress took 20 minutes to come to our table. She took our appetizer and drink order and 20 minutes later we were served bread we were ordered in dirty napkin by someone else. When waitress came by in another 10-15 minutes to confirm our drink order we informed her of dirty napkin and said we were ready to order meal. Amazingly, I got my drink in about 5 minutes, which was not made with the advertised High West whiskey, a taste I am very familiar with. Over an hour after being seated my husband was served slightly warmer than room temperature soup that lacked flavor. When waitress came by to see why he wasn’t eating soup he informed her soup was not to his liking. Waitress tried to convince him it was because he wasn’t unfamiliar with parsnips, which are a winter staple in our diet, to which I informed her soup was awful and he informed her he had been eating parsnips since before she was born. When our meal was served, it was slightly warmer than the soup had been but mostly devoid of flavor. This meal, that took over two hours, was worse than any other sit down meal I have had in Atlanta. The only meal I have ever had in Atlanta that was worse was at a Zestos over 20 years ago. My husband thinks Zestos was better. The live music was over amplified, drowning out the vocalist and making conversation across the restaurant from them difficult.

Very simple menu. Out of most of the items on wine list. No longer fine dining. Just a place to go

Nothing wonderful. I was told by my hotel not to go here but wanted to check it out because it sounded like a good “supper club”. The food left much to be desired - I ordered the spare rib, which was overcooked and underseasoned, veggies weren’t great. The highlight was the Brussels salad, which you can pretty much get anywhere. Wine list was lacking and stemware was standard and not upscale. I think the server was also the bartender and was running around. Overall my experience was lackluster - there are too many other good restaurants in ATL to eat here.

Beautiful restaurant. Cocktails, halibut, bread, crab cake and cheesecake were wonderful. Duck breast was overcooked to a criminal degree but otherwise well prepared. Service was great. Table next to us took multiple FaceTime loud calls throughout dinner and the staff did nothing about it. Perfect but for those two complaints.

The food and service were outstanding. Lower overhead lighting and music would add to the ambiance.
