Both were so unique and delicious!\nFour of our party ordered the Short Ribs and all 4 loved it and left no morsel uneaten. I was the one lone ranger and ordered the fried whole trout. It was crispy, yet the fish was tender with a tasty ginger sauce and greens. I tasted the short ribs and it would be a difficult decision which to order next time.\nWe ordered a bottle of wine for 3 of our party. During the appetizers my husband spilled his glass. The server immediately came to clean up the mess and the proceeded to bring a small glass of the same one to ‘make up’ for the wine spilled - so thoughtful! The service was all around superb! Our biggest gripe was with the dessert, we both got the crème brûlée, the top layer was not torched properly, the crème was a not the thicker consistency we are used to and it almost tasted too salty or sweet, we couldn’t quite figure it out. A final note we tried three different cocktails and thought all of them were delicious and had a perfect balance between the added flavors and alcohol. Fried whole trout , fried beef crisp weren’t served as freshly fried dish… it was sort of sitting on table for a while. Can’t serve fried dish like that. Braised short rib was very tender and well cooked but it was too salty and ruined taste of rib. Cocktails were good and unique.
Only one dish I liked was imperial roll. It was hot and crisp and just right flavor. I heard it’s very famous place so my expectations were high but didn’t meet… sadly

Wow. Chef Jamie Tran never fails to disappoint and this is our fourth trip to the black sheep in nearly 4 years. Our favorite staples are still on the menu, such as the short rib, fried rice, now with new delicious additions, like oxtail, empanadas, and spectacular cocktails, as always, that demonstrate a wide array of flavors and strengths. Thank you chef Tran for not only conversing with us, but rapidly filling up our water cups whenever they were half full! Your friends from Texas, Eddie and Lacy
