A resplendent thatched-roof Inn, located in the heart of Devon, two miles from the coastal town of Sidmouth. With eight recently renovated rooms, the Blue Ball is a snuggly, seaside treat of a place. Locally sourced seafood specials are the order of the day, supplied by renowned Cornish fishmonger Flying Fish, coupled with a well-stocked bar of real ales, liveners & pick me ups! Our cosy corners, eccentric finishing touches and curiosities make for quite the venerable experience. Only heightened by our splendid rear garden which promises to provide a welcome haven.

    Looked after us well - we were a party of 9 which is never easy! A few items on the menu were not available which was a shame. Overall, good service and food in a nice and spacious pub.

    Cosy atmosphere, very attentive staff, tremendous food. Dogs in a separate area. 5 guests and we all had something different, including a vegetarian. Highly recommend. Will be going more !!

    We had a great family Sunday dinner here. Roasts were really good, including the vegetarian option and we all enjoyed the mini puddings with coffee to finish. Staff were friendly and attentive.

    Far too expensive, £30 for a steak is exorbitant. My drink was wrong and had to be replaced. Guest with me, her desert was also wrong and had to be replaced. Not a great experience.

    Table waiting on arrival. Short time to wait for lunch which was well presented and plenty of it. Go there regularly.

    We had a family meal here after a concert in Sidmouth. Staff on arrival were attentive and we had a very nice table. Menu choices are extensive. We ordered our meals, starters were very nice. Main courses came out but sadly my husbands never arrived. We were told there had been a mistake and he would have to wait 20 minutes. We were compensated, but it was disappointing.

    We met up with friends today for lunch. The car park was pretty full which was nice to see. Staff were attentive as usual and we chose our meals and drinks and then chatted for a while whilst waiting for food to arrive. Not a long wait about 10 mins I would say what was very annoying was whilst we were eating our meal a chap dressed in black with a small hand held smoke emitting device brushed past us reached up to a smoke alarm on the ceiling above and let off an amount of smoke which came down towards our table not a single word was spoken an excuse me or sorry or what he was doing then he walked off. Then a while later the fire alarm went off and continued sounding for a couple of minutes no one came to explain what was happening I thought this was very rude and could have been done earlier in the day before the premises opened Sadly spoilt our lunch as our conversation was interrupted We left a short time later Not the usual standard at this lovely pub

    Thank you for your review, we are so sorry about the man that brushed past you he is not part of my team he is from a company that do our fire alarms. i did say i was not happy on the day to him and told them to come back another day. please don't think that this is my staff they would not do that. we take all reviews onboard.
