The Bricklayers Arms is a delightful lakeside public house, comprising three terraced cottages in a charming Kent village. The pub is situated at the end of the picturesque Darent Valley Walk. The sign represents Sir Winston Churchill, an expert bricklayer and whose home was at nearby Chartwell.
We pride ourselves on getting involved with the local community and providing a warm and friendly welcome to our visitors. We serve Harvey's Best Bitter straight from the barrel, a fantastic range of wine and beautifully home cooked British pub food. Located opposite the Chipstead Sailing Lake, we are perfectly positioned for a warm bowl of soup after a walk, a summer cider on the green, or a comforting meal in front of our real, open log fire.

Didn't really enjoy the Sunday roast, it's been a little while since we've been here and the food wasn't as good as before. I had roast pork which didn't have much flavour as did much more of the meal which wasn't very hot also there was hardly any gravy won't be returning again.

What an absolute rrip off. Pay for a Sunday Roast at £19, quarter of a parsnip, less than a mouthful of cabbage, and two broccoli heads. Needed to pay more to have stuffing, pigs in blankets which you’d usually got with a chicken roast, and braised cabbage extra. £86 spent with a 10% surcharge added, never asked if we were enjoying our meals. The condiment of English mustard they didn’t have any off. The pub was cold. Don’t waste your money.

My husband and I enjoyed a lovely Sunday Roast at The Bricklayers Arms. The food was great and the service was excellent, we felt welcomed and were looked after well. We will visit again.

Lovely comfort food on a rainy August evening - steak and ale pie, scampi, sticky toffee pud, apple and berry crumble. Yum!

It’s a pub worth a visit in a lovely location, I have had lunch here many times, this is the first time I have been disappointed, I had the fish & chips unfortunately I only eat half of the fish as it had a strange taste, I did mention this to the waitress, my lunch partner had the ham, egg & chips which he said was very good.

We received a reminder/confirmation the day before which was fine, however, there were several local road work issues which made it difficult to get to the restaurant and this was not mentioned in that email nor alternative access indicated. On arrival we were being directed to the restaurant until the waitress spotted our little dog and were re-located to the bar area, this was not an issue but the dog was mentioned in the booking. Service was a little slow due to the pub being very busy again not an issue as we were catching up with friends and were not in a hurry. The food quality was mixed, two were fine but two were over cooked, we had also expected the a la carte menu but it was only roast dinners on the Sunday menu which was not clear in the booking. The pub did have a great atmosphere and location. At no point were we asked if everything was ok, so feedback on the day could not be given. The Staff were friendly enough but the service was average. I wonder if we just caught them on a day they were over-stretched
