The Canteen is a full-service neighbourhood restaurant in Downtown Dartmouth, serving up chef-inspired seasonal fare for lunch, brunch and dinner. At the helm in the kitchen is award-winning chef and co-owner Renee Lavallee.     The food was phenomenal. The server was great, however the food took a while to arrive. I would definitely recommend The Canteen.

    The food and service were very good, restaurant was very busy so it was noisy, tables are close, not a place to go if you expect to linger as you are expected to leave once you are finished eating and have paid your tab, we stayed maybe 10 minutes after we paid our bill and were politely told there was another reservation waiting

    Forever a fave. Especially when hosting an out of town guest! Had a delicious meal, as always. Pan fried haddock was done like no other pan fried haddock I’ve ever had. Flavourful & unique flavours! Left room for some fantastic crème brûlée!

    A very dense Caesar salad made with Kale, but good. The Rare Beef bowl was not to the my liking. Not because it wasn't good. Very noisy such we could barely hear each other. The Italian sandwich was very greasy to eat, but tasty.

    Belle atmosphère! La nourriture était très bonne. Nous avons mangé le seafood Chowder, le Huevos Rancheros et les fish cake, wow c’était excellent. Notre serveur était attentif à nos besoins. Nous y retournerons c’est sûre!
