Went with a family of 4 including 2 20 somethings. Beer selection was great as always. Have not had wine at The commoner as it always seemed more of a beer vibe. Son and Hubby both had the burger (the one with arugula) and they enjoyed it. The fries are great there. My daughter had the chicken sandwich and she said it was amongst the best she’s ever had ( and she’s had a lot of chicken sandwiches). She’s planning to go back again soon it was that good. I had the poke bowl with tuna. The flavours were great and presentation was perfect. 2 minor things: no chopsticks available and the rice was long grain when I would have expected sushi rice. Still enjoyed it as it was very tasty. Always order the Italian doughnuts for dessert. Yum! Server was great. Attentive and friendly.

I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. I had a reservation booked for 2:30 PM, and at no point during the booking process was it communicated that the kitchen would be closing at 2:45 PM. Shockingly, I received a call only at 12 PM on the day of the reservation — far too late to make other plans — informing me of this. The manager tried to make amends by offering to provide three appetizers for us to enjoy while we waited for the dinner service to reopen at 4 PM (which also made little sense, considering why accept a 2:30 reservation if the kitchen is closing so soon?). However, when the bill arrived, we were charged for the very items that were to be understood as complimentary. When we brought this up, the manager denied ever saying that and was incredibly rude with tone by being condescending and unprofessional in handling the situation. This lack of communication, poor service, and blatant disregard for customer experience was extremely frustrating. I would not recommend this place, and I certainly won’t be returning.

The location is beautiful, but the food is just average. If you’re going for the aesthetics and for a drink, then you’re gonna have a good time.

I love the brunch at The Commoner. The avocado toast is my favourite; keep it on the menu!
