A tasty toasted Reuben and delicious bowl of homemade soup was just what we needed to hit the spot for lunch on Saturday. Welcome back!

There were no specials left when we arrived for reserved table at 2:30. Steak sandwich was very good but needed a much sharper knife. The toasted bread in it could not be cut and made a large mess on table and floor as pieces of it went flying in effort to slice into it. I would like to try dessert here but the portion sizes are far too big. I also wish the menu was more varied and larger. The design makes it very hard to know who to look to to be seated or if there is any question who to approach. All staff seem to be running around busily even when the restaurant was 40% full. Maybe more are needed?

Four of us had a working lunch. The background music was very loud. Two ordered the daily special and the sandwich arrived out burnt and the aubergine topping was uncooked. Not a good experience for two of our party. The music was very loud and the service slow. My own meal was very good (fish), but I felt the daily special was small and not anything like the standard of my dish. A mixed experience, all in all. I don't think I'd return for a working lunch on a week day again.

Love the ambience in the Commons Cafe, very quiet at the time of our brunch. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Interestine menu, quality food. Bright and spacious dining area, beautiful garden area to the rear. Looking forward to returning with friends in a few weeks time

No problem except for noise. Is background 'music' necessary. People seemed to have to shout to drown it.

Great atmosphere and background music, great service and above all great food. The only wee issue we had was they didn't have any ice cream for kiddies, but our 7 year old took great delight sharing our desserts.

The Commons cafe is in a very nice location. I liked the ambience and the service was good. I found it very expensive. The cake we got was dry and a bit stale so quite disappointing considering its price. Definitely overpriced in general, but it might have to do with being new and outrageous pricey trends of cafes in town. I will only go back for coffee as it was very good.

Mostly prompt service which went missing for a while. Reasonable good food. We were there at lunchtime on a Friday and by the time our meals were served it was very loud in the room. A few sound absorbing features would help.
