   in my opinion this is the best pub to eat in the Doynton, Marshfield area, the menu is very creative, we all had the pigeon starter & two had the sole, one the partridge & I had the calves liver, all presented & cooked beautifully. The staff are very professional & know exactly how to manage a restaurant & converse with customers. I was surprised that prices were lower than expected.

   Roast beef wasn’t great, flavourless and chewy. I left the meat and only ate the veg, which was great. The gravy could be better, was very watery.

   Very welcoming by all members of staff, well kept Ale and only £4:50 a pint highly recommend Butcombe. We were shown the way to the barn and subsequently our table, decor plain and simple showing all oak beams. I had pate to start, I must say that it is one of the best that I have tasted. My partner had cheese beef burger, came with a large salad and French fries. I decided on a 10 oz flat iron steak, came with a large salad and French fries, sweet we had chocolate brownie and a crème brûlée. The steak was well cooked as I had ordered, cheese burger ok except the relish on the bottom made the bap soggy, The salad was rather a lot and overpowered the meal, not a complaint just observation. The brownie was ok but the crème brûlée was rather like runny custard with a lot of baileys. Our waitress was very attentive, friendly and I cannot stress enough very welcoming.

    Excellent food and service. Shame about hard chairs and being rushed over coffee because our table was booked again. Only given 2 hours having lunch with our daughter who was visiting after not seeing her for 3months.
