About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Neighborhood gem
  • Innovative
The Duck & The Peach is a New American restaurant in D.C.’s Capitol Hill, inspired by the fresh flavors of California and the warmth of New England. Led by Executive Chef Katarina Petonito and Rammy's Pastry Chef of the Year Rochelle Cooper, our seasonal menu features signature dishes like rotisserie duck with watercress panzanella and elegant, handcrafted desserts.

Enjoy the full menu at our bar, offering craft cocktails and a curated wine list featuring women-made selections. Dinner is a celebration of the seasons, while our casual weekend brunch invites you to gather with friends and family. The space feels like stepping into a dear friend’s home—charming, warm, and welcoming.

Join us at The Duck & The Peach, where every meal is a meaningful celebration of food, connection, and community. Named a James Beard Finalist in 2024 and one of D.C.’s 25 best restaurants by The New York Times, we can’t wait to welcome you.

Why they're an Icon

Executive chef: Katarina Petonito

From the OpenTable editors: From the same group as the beloved La Collina, restaurateur Hollis Wells Silverman's The Duck & The Peach digs deep into local, seasonal produce alongside rotisserie-grilled meats. Get comfortable in the industrial-chic dining room and consider going all out with the showstopping crispy duck feast that's served as part of a three-course meal that might include chèvre-filled dates and pumpkin gnudi. It's no wonder the New York Times named the restaurant one of the 25 best in DC.

The food is delicious, the service impeccable, and the vibe so welcoming, friendly and energetic. I love duck, have games it all over the world, and The Duck and The Peach ranks at the top of my list. (Oh, and the yellowtail crudo is outstanding, so too the scallops)

We got there around five (empty) and left around seven, ordering two courses and dessert - to give an idea. The furniture (bench with a wood back and no cushion) is not really comfortable for sitting that long. Duck was ‘OK’ for the price, one order is more than enough for two people and possibly enough for three. The dessert was a small portion for the price.

The food was outstanding, but the service was extremely slow and inattentive. We waited for at least 10 minutes before anyone took our order, and that was only after we requested service. Then one entree for our party of four was delivered to the table five minutes or more before the rest of the food. The bakery basket, duck carnitas, and spinach omelet were all delicious.

Lovely meal for a special event. Probably more suitable for carnivores than the veg /fish leaning folks. Great desserts!

Poor service is kind of expected in DC, but Duck & the Peach takes poor service to a new low. Lack of attentiveness by wait staff could be tolerated if you weren’t required to give a 20% tip irrespective of how poor the service is, which is the amount that is automatically applied to every check and cannot be altered or removed.

I had the duck, my daughter had the chicken. Both were outstanding. The Brussels sprouts were delicious too. Service was very good and attentive. The ambience was clean and modern but nothing was noteworthy or exceptional. Prices were high, the value was low. Overall, it was a worthwhile experience and the duck was memorable.

Duck was cooked to perfection. Service was polite and generally attentive. Timing was a little off at a couple of touch points (wine service was a little late, didn’t offer to open/decant…a larger issue given the listing was a 2020 CdP and a 2022 was presented…no price adjustment offered). Portions were large (we had the duck feast and it lives up to the name). The chocolate desert was overly salted. Dessert beverages were either unavailable or not understood by the staff. All comments are intended to be constructive criticism. A nice experience overall.
