Great food, as has always been the case on our visits, but the staff were having an off day (the chef had upset one of the bar staff / waitresses) and the online booking didn't work - they told us that they never do, which begs the question why OpenTable advertise their services?

Visited on a weekday lunchtime. Distinct lack of atmosphere. Although many tables were empty, they weren't clean and we had to ask for ours to have the dried on gravy removed. Menus were dog-eared and greasy from previous use. However, the food was good, with generous portions and plenty of fresh vegetables on the side. Would have liked more choice on the pudding front, but the raspberry brulee we had was excellent and well-presented. Service by a very nervous manager who managed to spill our drinks when wiping the afore-mentioned table. Overall, food was good but disappointing atmosphere and service.

Sorry we chose a very quiet Sat Lunch time, so little ambiance. However as there were 4 of us we made our own. Staff, including the the Chef were realy interested in how we had enjoyed our visit. I have already recommended to other friends.

They had no record of my reservation as I'd booked online and apparently the online booking doesn't get to them. However there was plenty of seating available so there was no issue getting a seat. It seemed really sad that they were not busy. There was only one other table in there when we'd arrived and only one more table arrived when we were eating. The food is very tasty and very reasonably priced. Even the bar was not over-priced which is what tends to happen in most establishments these days. I thoroughly enjoyed the evening and would definitely go back. It's just such a shame they're so quiet. Perhaps an early doors menu would help to get people in.

Went with Groupon voucher. Info was different to when we arrived at The Duke of Portland. The full menu, upto value advised, was not available was stated. Only given 3 stars for service because although the service was fine, there was a very long wait despite it being fairly quiet at the time. Food was nice.

Only hitch was that our booking via Open Table had not been received by the Pub! Fortunately we arrived at a quiet time so no problem.

Food was good, surroundings were nice, clean etc. However evening tarnished by generally slow service, eg waiting quite a while for the food to come, slow clearing of the table, slow in asking if we wanted a sweet. All this despite pub being almost empty. Although staff were polite I felt we were not their priority. I ordered a post dinner coffee which never turned up and by the time I'd waited and waited I really didn't want it any more. Luckily for them it wasn't on the bill ! I would recommend it for food but warn people to be prepared for a wait. I don't know quite how they would cope if the place was busy
