The Fig is a great little restaurant- and an extremely popular one; people were queuing into the street for the lunch menu! We stayed two nights in one of the gorgeous four rooms above, with breakfast included, and also ate in the restaurant one evening. The breakfasts were incredible with lovely little finishing touches like herb oil, seeds and slow roasted tomatoes - lush! The evening small plates were also delicious: the harissa aubergine was insane. Lovely Omar, the manager, could not have been more friendly or accommodating. If you’re visiting Rye, definitely book into The Fig.

The Fig was great! We had fresh, healthy, and beautifully presented food. It’s great to find a restaurant that focuses on fresh, high-quality ingredients without being solely vegetarian or vegan. The menu offers a selection of small plates, perfect for sharing, and each dish is crafted with creativity and care. We tried the tuna ceviche, goat’s cheese and prosciutto, chicken salad, bean tacos, and cauliflower cheese gnocchi. Every dish was packed with flavour, well-balanced, and presented with attention to detail. The tuna ceviche was light and refreshing, the goat’s cheese and prosciutto had the perfect combination of creamy and savoury, and the cauliflower cheese gnocchi was rich yet not too heavy. The variety of flavours and textures made for a really enjoyable dining experience. The Fig is a brilliant choice for anyone looking for fresh and healthy dishes with plenty of variety. Highly recommended!

This is a small plate restaurant but that’s not a bad thing. Each dish on the evening menu is a delicious but generous starter. You can order between four or six dishes between 2 people and mix and match them as they are served by the attentive staff. We had five and it was enough with a sweet to end the evening. The layers of flavour were inspired and a delight for the palate. Recommend without question.

The food was amazing, well executed and tons of flavour. Stand out dish was the Jerusalem artichoke tart. My only complaint was the music, it didn’t create a nice ambience and felt more like elevator music. Otherwise, I highly recommend and would eat here again. Compared to other places I have eaten in Rye, this is my favorite
