We dined at the Fountain Room for the first and last time... I don't think I have ever been to a restaurant that seems to be so utterly confused about its identity. The vinyl booth seats and attempt at art deco paint have a definite Americana Diner vibe... but the menu prices are $$$$. So the casual vibe is completely at odds with the high prices you would expect in fine dining. This dichotomy continues. The restaurant offers a Chef's Tasting Menu which starts with grilled cheese, immediately followed by beef tartare. Yet again, I have rarely met a person whose palate wants both the comfort of grilled cheese and the far less casual raw beef... or seen a Tasting Menu that attempts to appeal to all palates rather than having a unified theme. While our waitress was incredibly cheerful and competent- she was limited by the kitchen. Our request to accommodate a dietary preference was denied, our request to order just one item off the Tasting Menu was denied, and at the end of the night, we all agreed that the prices did not justify the mediocre quality of food; and since neither the ambience or high standard of care (the customer is always right) exist... we will not be back.

Wonderful experience! The food, service and ambience were fantastic! The tuna tartare was phenomenal. Enjoyed my filet and potato casserole. The only ‘miss’ was the roasted cauliflower. The service was good - a little slow but it was NYE.

We dined here on New Year’s Eve and everything was top notch. It was a relaxed art deco atmosphere with a warm and sophisticated feel. Great views of Mass Avenue. The service was wonderful. We had the Brie Brûlée as an appetizer and it was incredible. I had the Sea Bass entree and it was cooked to perfection. The combination of flavors on this dish was second to none. My husband had the ribeye cooked medium rare and he was very happy with his pick! We look forward to going back!

Really enjoyed their brunch menu for our first visit! My husband had the steak & eggs and said it was excellent. He was thrilled they had Cholula Sauce for his eggs! I had a simple Belgian waffle and fruit - it was perfect. Service was fantastic - our waitress was very kind, polite, and welcoming and provided recommendations for things to do in the city.

Our server was excellent. Truffle fries were the best we’ve ever had! Our table had a ribeye, sea bass and prime rib - all were delicious! We also shared a side of macaroni and cheese which was ok, just a little bland. Drinks were good as well! We will be back!
