We have been coming to the Brown Palace for tea for years. This is the first time we did the christmas tea and we will not be coming back. Booked this in June, and they clearly overbooked because we were on a folding table by the check in desk. Not in the middle where the tree is and all the other decor, which is one of the main reasons we came at christmas. Considering we had to book this 6 months in advance and then we were stuck in the corner, where not only where we waited on a handful of times and forgotten, but we could also feel the cold air coming from the door because it was right past the front desk. Coming to tea here usually entails sitting at one of the tables with the couches or the smaller ones in the center. Not to be forgotten over at the side where the employee only door is. And to top it off, the bill was almost $700 for 6 people. And they charged us an extra $10 because one person is vegan, she has a dairy allergy! Was not aware food intolerances meant you had to pay extra. When we went to leave, it took over 30 minutes to get the check because no one checked on us, and then we were told they no longer validate parking. And additional $32+tip for parking for an hour and a half. We have loved every experience for tea and the spa we have had here up until this point, and can honestly say this one bad experience will most likely prevent us from ever returning.

Always a delight to have tea at the Brown Palace during the holidays. I thought the tea was especially good this year.

We had four different servers. They made it very clear when we sat down that we had 90 minutes and they would ask us to leave. Why not wait until 10-15 minutes before they need the table and if it doesn’t look like we are getting ready to leave then remind us of the 90 minute limit which is clearly stated when you make the reservation? II don’t need to start my $90 tea experience with a lecture. We couldn’t hear the piano at all! Very disappointing. This is the 35th year we have come to The Brown at Christmas. Might have to skip next year.

We had reservations for 2:00 p.m. they said they were cleaning our table and to stand over there. After they seated several other tables. I went over and said we have yet to be seated, what’s the deal. Then they scrambled, because they had forgot about us. They seated us, but on the perimeter, not the formal dining room (like the hall people walk through). I felt rushed the whole time…This poor old Gran Dame hotel has gone down hill, ever since Marriott bought it for their Autograph collection! There hasn’t been any up keep of this hotel for at least 4 years. The women’s restroom on the first floor is dirty and needs to be upgraded to accommodate more stalls! There are 4 restaurants on the first floor that have all use the same restroom! I was there 2 weeks ago and ate at the Ship’s tavern, it was dirty and service was awful and food was terrible. And I left an Open Table review then too! This is no longer a 5, 4, or a 3 star hotel! The Broadmoor Hotel puts this hotel to shame… Sad I have been at this hotel SEVERAL times but I am done!

The savory sandwiches were soggy, cucumbers were soft- the complimentary second serving of the sandwiches was much better. The sweet tray was disappointing. Only the truffles were the quality we expected from the Brown Palace. The scones were excellent.

A+ We really enjoyed the Palace Christmas Blend tea. Outstanding! A+ We loved the Maple and Brown Sugar scones. The best scone I've ever had! A+ Clotted cream served with lemon curd and strawberry jam. A+ The room was beautifully decorated for Christmas. C+ The desserts will appeal to varied tastes. F The sandwiches were not good. Hardly any filling; not great to look at; didn't taste good. F Charging extra for an after-dinner tea. .

This is my third time this season to have tea at the Brown Palace. The first two times were lovely. This time the sandwiches were stale and the service was truly awful. Someone stopped by our table to offer us a second plate of sandwiches and then never brought them. Our waiter never came by our table at all after he dropped our food off until he delivered the check. I have never had service or food like this at the Brown. We left and ate elsewhere.
