Welcome to The Greyhound, a 17th century coaching inn, in the heart of Beaconsfield Old Town.
Owned and managed by husband and wife team, Daniel Crump and Margriet Vandezande-Crump, the pub and restaurant was named as the ‘One to Watch in the UK’s prestigious Top 50 Gastropubs Awards, named a TripAdvisor 2021 Travellers’ Choice Award Winner, and voted the best restaurant in Bucks & Oxon by guests in the annual Muddy Stilettos awards.
The Greyhound is made up of 3 key areas for guests to enjoy: an intimate drinking lounge and outside drinking terrace, the main restaurant for dining (upstairs and downstairs), and an outdoor covered and heated dining terrace.
The different menus showcase a commitment to using the best seasonal British produce available.
The Greyhound also stocks a diverse wine list, developed by Margriet, who is a certified sommelier with the Court of Master Sommeliers, as well as a wide range of international beers.

What a lovely restaurant in the centre of Old Beaconsfield. Extremely welcoming and attentive staff, high quality two course lunch for £40 each with some lovely surprise additions before and throughout the meal. Having exquisite company was also delightful 😁

I thought the service was exceptional. However my food choices of the rabbit starter and the pheasant main were not the best for me. I found the rabbit to be dry and also the pheasant. I expected the pheasant to be pink and soft and it was white and fully cooked which I found dry. As I said I may not have understood the cooking process from the menu so that may have been my bad. The sauces and accompaniments were all sublime.

I brought a friend here for them to try after loving everything on my last visit. Sadly the tasting menu had more missed than hits this time. Many of the dishes included an element that overpowered the rest so they lacked balance. Others courses were a bit bland. On a positive note, I enjoyed the crab course and my friend enjoyed the dessert, but we both felt disappointed overall. Service and sommeliers were fantastic, but timings of food out of the kitchen were all over the place. Our first courses came out in a flurry leaving no time to finish each pairing wine in order. But from the fish course on, there were long gaps as the restaurant filled up and our glasses ran dry, so we felt a little ignored at times. I did try to raise the issue of some courses not being good, but the manager misunderstood and thought I was instead complimenting the ones that were ok. She rushed off before I could say any more. I know most people love the place, but they shouldn’t assume all comments are going to be positive. I love a good tasting menu and have enjoyed the Greyhound’s int he past, but this time was disappointing. Over £200 pp for a meal neither of us really enjoyed. I’m not one to complain usually, but we won’t be back. There’s plenty of other better tasting menus out there to try.

I can’t recommend this restaurant enough. We always leave feeling like we have had the most wonderful experience. This is the place that we will always go to for our special occasions. We are already trying to book for a large party family meal for Christmas. The food and treatment are superb.
