   Lovely addition to downtown Georgetown! Great place to take friends when they visit, very polite staff and happy vibe. Food is delicious, nice wine selection.

   Food and service was outstanding but dining room is configured awkwardly and served aa as a passageway to the hotel. Lots of traffic strolling through a small space.

   Our inaugural visit to The independent and to Georgetown SC for our 22nd anniversary did not disappoint! We were welcomed by our server Jann, with two glasses of celebratory bubbly and a lovey personalized greeting card. I selected the she crab soup to start and it was delicious—lots of lump crabmeat in a silky, flavorful broth. Jann treated us to the yummy crab claws served with a black pepper remoulade. So good! Hubby wanted the shrimp and grits but without the sauce and sausage so the kitchen prepared a custom order of the cheddar grits topped with blackened shrimp and he was happy! He also got an order of the cornbread and it was divine. Seemingly baked in a cast iron skillet, the edges were buttery and crispy while the center was fluffy and soft. I ordered the special— perfectly seasoned pan seared golden grouper atop an amazing fennel, watermelon radish and arugula salad. Perfection! For dessert, Jann treated us to two generous slices of the house made hummingbird cake with caramel sauce and spiced pecans. So incredibly indulgent, we had to take the second slice to go! Luckily we are guests of The George Hotel (fabulous property!!) so just a quick elevator ride up to the room which includes a fridge. Can you say hummingbird cake for breakfast?😉 Can’t say enough good things about staff and food at The Independent. A truly memorable experience!

   We stayed at the George Hotel and this is the restaurant inside the hotel. We went there for my 65th birthday and it was spectacular from start to finish. That had two cards and flowers at my table. The service was excellent and the food was amazing from start to finish. We are coming back in a few weeks. Everything about the town hotel and this restaurant was spot on.

   I’m sure we were not there on their best night. It was quite busy and it looked like they could’ve been shorthanded.. I got my salad at the same time. I got my and we didn’t get bread until after that.

   We attended Sunday Brunch on Apr. 13, and food was good, but we would like to see something extra to make the experience better. Perhaps bread, roll, muffins served prior to meal or special prices for drinks (lower).

   This was our first visit dining here. We truly enjoyed everything including our wonderful waiter Hunter!! We dined on the special dish Bronzino, the duck and two of us had the fresh catch of the day. We shared the cornbread appetizer and the crab dip and finished off in sharing the chocolate ganache cake and key lime pie. We had 2 excellent wine choices and there wasn’t a morsel left of anything when we finished. We will definitely return and recommend this fine restaurant!!

   Food and service was very good. But disappointed that we Just wanted to order From the dinner menu and not the brunch and could not do that. Did not know it was a brunch time only.

   We went for cocktails and desserts to celebrate a friends birthday and had the best experience!! The cocktails were great, the desserts were delicious and our service from Taylor was outstanding!!

    Just love the Independent! Food & cocktails are sublime! Decor of restaurant & hotel are perfection. Server, Louise I believe, made everything better! It’s a must if you’re in the grand strand!
