   We were excited about trying this new restaurant and arrived early to have a cocktail at the bar and shortly after our drinks arrived a staff person pushing a large charcuterie cart offered us a sample and wanted to create a board for us. It seemed rushed and inopportune. We just wanted to have a cocktail before dinner. We saw her later approach another table who had just finished dining. Her timing was really bad. Our server Stephano and all the staff were very welcoming and did a great job. I ordered the crispy salmon and prawns. The skin was disappointing (not at all crispy) and the prawns were disappointing as well, they were just extra large shrimp. My husband ordered the lobster risotto and was very pleased. Drinks were very good and the carpaccio appetizer was good but not great.

   The short rib lasagna and the lobster ravioli were fantastic! I’d pass on the steaks though good, there are better choices on the menu.

   Great dinner this week at The Italiano (Chef Joey) on Shea Blvd in North Scottsdale. Celebrated with a lovely friend. Our server, Gabrielle was excellent and offered several suggestions on our dining choices which we appreciated. We enjoyed Fritto Misto with shrimp and calarmari to start and then ordered Filet Mignon Pizzaiola (Pan Roasted Filet with garlic, oregano and San Marzano wine sauce). A nice bottle of wine complemented our dinner. Overall, a memorable experience. Definitely recommend.

   The chicken Parmesan is delicious as is the pasta! Lunch was quiet with wonderful service in beautiful surroundings! Totally recommend!

   Beautiful venue and the food and espresso martinis were good. Our server was a grump with no personality so that was a bummer. Maybe he was just having a bad day. Anyway, I hope we have better luck next time in regard to service. We still tipped 50.00 on a 200.00 bill.

   Our second time there the food was better but not outstanding. The service was poor. We requested sparkling water which they provided. But when the server came to refill our water glasses, he poured normal water into our half full glasses. So they gave us new glasses of sparkling. We received a basket of bread with only four pieces of bread for the table (4 people) and had to ask for more. Our two friends ordered a wedge salad to split between them and I ordered a wedge salad also. Server gave both salads to our friends by mistake. So they had to bring out another one for me. Then for dessert my wife and I each ordered the zabaglione. But server only brought one and left the table before I could ask him. I thought he was coming back with mine but he never did. So we shared the one dessert. The ambiance is overrated and the prices are high. If you want outstanding Italian food and good service and don’t want to overpay for ambiance, try Nick’s, Bianco’s, or Andreoli’s. Their food is the real Italian and not overpriced. Believe me, I know good Italian food. I’m full-blooded Italian and have been to Italy four times eating in some of their best restaurants. The Italiano doesn’t do it for me.

   Interested in dining here as it just opened. Open minded. The food was above average. The service was average. And the ambience was mediocre. Hopeful that this will make an upward climb and a place in the local culinary establishment.

    we celebrated a birthday.. I wanted the room with the murals in it.. But it was such a horrible table !!! We were smushed up against a curtain that could’ve been open .. giving more space and room.. My Food Was delicious but came wrong.. then they took it back and Judy put more of the right sauce on top of it.., Asked for no onions and my salad came with onions… ..
