   Have a great experience at The Ivy in York, would definitely return. Great quality food, wonderful surrounding and excellent service from the staff.

   The service we received from entering The Ivy was impeccable. We were shown to a table for 2 towards the back of the dining room which was nice and quiet. Our waiter was very attentive, polite and friendly. The Crab Tian starter was a definite hit, well presented and tasty. My plant based curry with Jasmine rice had just the right amount of spice for me and portion size was adequate. My husband ordered the Ivy Shepherds pie which he enjoyed but thought the portion size was less than on previous occasions. Side orders of vegetables can of course be ordered but I think they are overpriced.

   Good experience however hand dryer in the bathroom didn’t work and no paper towels. Had to use toilet roll to dry my hands .

   Food was good, service polite. However, felt like an expensive fast food restaurant, although there is no time limit they're naturally trying to turn tables. Disappointingly for a chain harking to times past, the offer of water is naturally a 5 quid bottle (not forgetting the discretionary 12.5% tip element on this too) rather than an offer of tap water. The couple at the next table slipped us a Sunday special menu that they had asked for - minute steak and chips + wine for £20. My glass of wine was £14 alone. Why do you have to ask for a cheaper daily special menu. Finally, £42 for the cheapest steak, chips and greens is way too much to be eaten in a room with extensive water stains from a leaking ceiling.

   This chain of restaurants always offers a sophisticated experience at each venue we have been too. The food is very good quality and the service always makes you feel special. Together with the sumptuous decor it is one of our first consdierations for celebrating a special event.

    Had the afternoon tea and it was a fantastic start to our 10 year anniversary weekend the attention to detail was flawless and we were made to feel very welcome will definitely return when we are back in york
