We thought the cakes were very standard and not very special. Also there was not enough jam and cream for 4 scones. Didn’t think it was value for money.

The Sunday Roast was very disappointing. Although we were eating early (12:30) the meat and roast potatoes seemed like they had been hanging around for a while. The side dish of sprouting broccoli was watery and lukewarm. We were a table of 7 and it took a while for all the meals and sides to be served. The special shrimp and salmon burger and the blackened cod seemed fresher and the flavours were ok but not particularly special. We were a table for 7 and tucked round the corner out of the way next to the disabled toilet - not the best location - other parts of the restaurant are much brighter and have more ambience. Service was good. We had booked as it is a well known chain and generally the food is of a good standard, however we felt that it missed the mark and was below par. We picked it as we thought it would deliver on quality but it didn't live up to expectations. There is a wide selection of places to eat in York and I would recommend choosing somewhere else.

We thought we would try for Sunday lunch. Felt like it was a pre frozen meal, chewy meat, 2 cold yorkshires and thin gravy. Really poor for the Ivy's normal good quality.

Service was hit and miss, food was good on the whole ( except had to send cold mushy peas back) lovely decor. Ambience was spoilt slightly by a couple diners who were very loud in conversation and OTT! May be a while before we return to this branch. On a plus note Congratulations to the bride ( who wore a stunning gown) and groom who passed us on the way out .
