    With the promise of fine dining and an upmarket ambience, The Ivy in York didn’t quite reach the mark you would expect given its brand perception. Food was pretty good for the price (would recommend the Redang Curry) and yet the background music was definitely not in the background. The service was a little chaotic at times, albeit the staff were mostly pleasant and attentive.

    Very sorry to say that or Sunday lunch today was very poor started very good. Our starters where great as normal,then after waiting 45 Mins between coarse’s our mains roast beef came and was not good very overcooked on one side and quite raw on the other side, we had to send our meal back and go home. This is a very sad as it’s is one of our favourite places to eat out. ☹️☹️

    Far too expensive for what you get , food good but te blackened codwasn’t big enough to feed a 5 year old Atmosphere between staff not good .. Our waiter didn’t know how to open a bottle of wine.. not his fault clearly never been trained

    The service overall was good The person on reception seemed to have had a charisma bypass As far as customer service she gave none Older woman short blond hair The ambiance was spoilt by the music Younger staff was much more pleasant

    I absolutely love breakfast at The Ivy, the full English is fabulous as is the scrambled egg with salmon. The coffee is also the best I’ve tasted. I can’t recommend it highly enough.
