Review summary

AI-generated from verified diner reviews
The Kitchen American Bistro in Austin impresses with its "exceptional" culinary creativity and "fantastic" service. The ambiance is "beautiful," offering a cozy yet opulent setting. Standout dishes include the "phenomenal" carrots, gnocchi, and churro donuts. While some find the menu "overpriced," the overall dining experience is "highly recommendable."

Made a reservation to celebrate a birthday. It was a 7:30PM reservation for two. There are two dining rooms in this restaurant separated by the bar in the middle. One of them is more formal, and the other is what I’d call the bar area. When we arrived, the restaurant was relatively empty but had a couple of larger parties. For some reason, we got sat in the bar area, back in the corner. We were the only ones there and learned that despite making a reservation for the main dining room we were also going to be served by the bartender. The service was terribly slow, they forgot to bring out one of our entrees. In addition, it was freezing in the restaurant, which the manager did acknowledge, and mentioned there was an issue with the HVAC and offered to bring us complimentary tea or coffee to help warm us. The menu was primarily shareable items, but extremely overpriced - especially given the lack of ambiance and service to help offset the $54 rotisserie chicken. Also, the cocktails and wine were no less than $19/each, was quite shocking as well. Overall, it was a disappointing experience and not sure that we will be back. Prove me wrong though..

We made a last-minute reservation for Easter brunch at The Kitchen Austin, and I’m so glad we did. I was told it was their first day rolling out brunch—and wow, they nailed it! The new brunch menu was incredible—fresh, creative, and delicious. What truly made the experience exceptional was the staff. From the welcoming hostess to our attentive waiter, and especially our bartender, Addison, everyone was friendly, professional, and genuinely warm. The whole team went above and beyond, even accommodating someone in our party who hadn’t realized it was a special brunch menu and made them a steak from the dinner offerings. Talk about customer service! The interiors are stunning! I can only imagine how perfect this spot would be for dinner with the lighting and vibe. This place is a total gem. Recommend!

The Kitchen is an elegant space with delicious food. The bar area especially, just has a great vibe. We've tried everything on the menu and every dish was so yummy; the drinks are unique and defiinitely no skimpy pours here. Love this place

Every bite was better than the next. Great service, cocktails, food, and great surroundings. We enjoyed the Restaurant on a slow Tuesday night and were shocked that every table wasn’t booked. Seriously great food and enjoyed our time. From light starters to main dishes to dessert - 5 star!

We were sat at a bar high top despite reservation for a standard table. Servers were nice, but not consistent (I think we had 3 or 4 servers attend to our table). Food was good, but the menu was all over the place, and way overpriced.
