   The room the tea is served in is beautiful, and the staff are very nice. The tea tray has two plates of desserts that are quite rich and heavy and honestly one of them should be crudité —it’s just a lot of chantilly cream and whipped cream and icing. My main issue was that a bottle of sparkling water for the table was €8 when it was priced otherwise in other restaurants in the same hotel. Similarly, we were offered a glass of champagne for €23, and told that the second glass would be €26. We opted not to get champagne because that’s incredibly bizarre pricing, especially when other venues in the danger hotel offer the same glass of champagne for €20. The location is lovely and the staff are very sweet, but the pricing and value for money is quite off-putting.

   Food- Sandwiches were not freshly made. Fillings were heavy and a little stodgy. The sweet offerings were overly sweet and somewhat clawing. Service- As soon as we sat down, we were told we only had the table for 1.45hrs, this left the service feeling rushed and a little pushy. We felt they wanted us to just finish and leave. Definitely not a 5-star experience. Atmosphere- The room was warm, clean and beautiful, seating was comfortable and spacious. However, the lighting was overly bright making the atmosphere slightly uncomfortable. Overall- Very disappointing. I would definitely not recommend this a place for afternoon tea. It was very overpriced and absolutely not worth the expense.

   Afternoon tea is one of life’s accessible luxuries, and tea at the Shelbourne is one of the best. You may only have a yacht or a fancy apartment in your dreams, but you can be treated like royalty while sitting in the Shelbourne’s beautiful lounge. The food, drinks, and service are all impeccable. For anyone looking for a special way to celebrate an event in Dublin, this is the place to do it.

   My wife and I had lunch today in the Shelbourne Hotel today. The whole experience was wonderful. The staff were very friendly and attentive and the food exquisite. The kept in contact with us regularly which was very much appreciated. Thoroughly recommended.
