The Mussel & Steak Bar is dedicated to serving high quality, fresh and locally sourced seafood & steaks, with warm service and welcoming surroundings. Our restaurant is located at the bottom of Victoria Street in the heart of Edinburgh's Old Town, just a few steps from the historic Royal Mile. While enjoying the best mussels, oysters and steaks that Scotland has to offer, you can catch a glimpse of Edinburgh Castle from our window.
Our menu features classic seafood and steak favourites with seasonal Scottish specialties: fresh oysters, kilo pots of steamed mussels, shellfish platters and delicious matured Scotch beef steaks. Sourced from the West to North coast of Scotland you can expect to find seafood specials of lobsters, crabs, langoustines and scallops.

Cannot recommend this place enough. Just googled it and came top of the list on Open Table. More than deserves it. Lovely service, friendly staff and top notch food. Pricing surprisingly great value considering the location. Icing on the cake, not a chain and independent.

Amazing experience in Edinburgh, would bring friends and family back here any time. Great menu, ambience is really nice, staff are super helpful. The haggis wellington starter and kilo of mussels were a great combo, especially paired with the dark ale. Must try!

We had a lovely meal. The seafood was fresh,tasty and cooked perfectly. The service was excellent, the young man who looked after us was knowledgeable, helpful and added to our great experience. I’m sorry I didn’t remember your name, but it was 1.30 Sunday 23/03/25.🤩🤩🤩

Zur Begrüssung bekamen wir zuerst je 1 Auster. Lecker. Das Essen war sehr gut. Die Bedienung rasch und äusserst freundlich mit einer Prise Humor. Eine schöne Auswahl an Muscheln, Fisch, Fleisch und auch Vegi.

Table for one is still somewhat random as in you never know where you will be placed and this time I was a little shocked, upstairs in the corner I front of the fire exit with light directly on me. But that’s it my anxiety went down as soon as my sever chatted with me and took my order. Wine was yummy a all my food was delicious from my oysters to my surf and turf delicious and my steak was perfect 🤩
