In the late 1800's, the Townsend family came to Chippewa Lake and created the estate that is now The Oaks Lakeside Restaurant. Five prominent oaks that stood in a semi-circle on the front lawn gave the estate its original name: Five Oaks. The estate has operated as a dining establishment and bar since 1961.

The Oaks has become best known for the glorious wedding ceremonies and receptions held exclusively on the property. We are also well known for our traditional Easter, Mother's Day and Thanksgiving Buffets. We take pride in all of our social and business events that we host.

The Oaks offers the finest in al fresco lakeside dining. In the colder months, join us and have a seat next to one of our cozy fires or a lake view table to watch the fall colors or a gentle snow over the lake. No matter what time of year, the sunsets are always incredible. Our seats are often limited, so reservations are advised.

    Easter brunch: inedible food, half of buffet was empty, what food was there was cold. Thr bacon they had was totally raw! If i could post a pic here, i would! Charged $60 plus added tip of $32 even though we didn't order drinks. We left not eating anything. Would never go back and never would recommend.

    We picked the Oaks because we went to the Thanksgiving buffet, and it was spectacular. This time, we had a total of 6 guests for Easter, and it was a great value and outstanding food. We would HIGHLY recommend the Oaks.

    Our dinner was excellent. I had the blackened mahi mahi dinner, I would have liked a bit more of the pineapple salsa that was around the plate to complement the rice pilaf. The menu right now is between winter and spring. Anna was our server and we love her enthusiasm and service that she always provides. Thank you. The views of Chippewa lake are stunning.

    I’ve dined here on a few occasions and have had a positive experience. They were understaffed, overbooked, the food was sub par, basically a dumpster fire. Used to be a great place, hope they can turn it around.

    We attended a Valentine's Dinner here. Understanding that things can be busy on holidays, the hour and a half wait to be seated after our reservation was not really an issue. When it came time to order, we were informed that 3 of the 5 items to be served for the dinner we reserved were no longer available. I received a steak that was very undercooked. Half way through our meal, we explained to our server that we never received the appetizer that was to come with our meal, and never received it. In addition to our appetizer never being brought to us, we were offered a drink refill, explained to the waitress what we would like, and never got it. There was always poor language coming from the kitchen space and a waitress yelled into the kitchen for them to quite down. We all have heard cuss words, so not the end of the world, although, at a "fine" dining location it's really not what you would expect. Normally, I would never posted a poor review, but I was very disappointed with the service we received at the Oaks. In the end, we were still charged for the appetizer we never received, but I just payed without any complaints because of the frustration
