Went for a carvery for our anniversary. The veg was hard, some didn't even seem like it had been cooked at all. The Yorkshire pudding was very crispy and at some points not edible. The meat and cauliflower cheese was the only positive. For pudding we had apple crumble and duo of pavlova. We found these to be overpriced (£7.50 each), with the pavlova being 2 small meringue nests with some fruit and cream. The apple crumble had seen better days, and again didn't feel like the apple was cooked enough. The pub is dog friendly, but a bit off putting having dogs come up to the table when eating our food. Would make more sense to have a separate eating area. There is the potential for this to be an amazing carvery/puddings, but needs refinement.

Sadly, the arrangements for the Carvery lunch were completely disorganised. There is no easy ‘flow’ for customers to access the Carvery and return to their tables. The staff seem very friendly but are frustrated that there is a ‘pinch point’ around the Carvery station. There are two different sizes of Carvery and tickets are issued to customers according to what size of meal is required. I would suggest the meal tickets are not issued by the staff until that table is due to be served, this would reduce a big queue forming and would enable the staff to keep control of the dining room.

It was lovely to visit the Penruddocke after so many years. The food and staff were excellent, but the decor was basic - because the owners have clearly taken over and are rebuilding the business - something that we like to support as so many rural pubs/inns have disappeared this days. We were certainly made to feel special and were amply rewarded for travelling there. Thank you.

A bit disappointed because we didn't get the carvery but the roast they gave us was lovely so it didn't really matter. Loads of meat and veg. It was quite quiet as we had a late booking but the staff were great.

Staff ,excellent. The food was not hot enough and needed hot plates to serve. Overall a good effort as new management. The bar looked clean and the dining room. Let down by the exterior,not appealing if you were driving by ,but hoping they will get there soon. Family and dog friendly!
