Welcome to Geelong's oldest pub the Petrel Hotel!
We are a food focused pub and restaurant offering generous and genuine hospitality from the walls of a historic building.
Head chef Molly Fuge brings local and international flavours together with classic pub dishes like The Petrel Cheeseburger and Lemon Herb Crumbed Snapper + Chips. Glazed Beef Skewers with Mango Chimichurri are already a house staple, Oysters shucked to order with pomegranate granita and a perfect Lamb Rump sits atop heirloom tomatoes, black olive and green beans await you!
Join us in our light filled dining room dressed with paintings and treasures that nod to Australian pubs and county homes. Our grand wooden bar sits at solidly offering a home to wine with a focus on smaller Australian producers with a few international gems nestled between. The food was great. We were seated on a noisy table and had to wait for people to be moved though we had booked, near a TV playing football. Lighting so poor we needed phone torches to see the menu. Service OK but not amazing by any means. Carbonated water ridiculously priced in recycled wine bottles. Probably won’t go back but food was very good. Highly recommend food, horrible ambience.

The cheeseburger and fries were delicious. The crème brûlée was ‘next level’ good. The oysters Kilpatrick were also delicious and the chicken schnitzel, as always, is excellent. Always a good night at the Petrel Hotel with friends and family. Great atmosphere. Well done!

The service was amazing! Comfortable seating, good ambience and music not too loud. The menu was interesting, food combinations unusual, for example serving lentils with the roast of the day. I disagreed with charging $28 for bangas and mash. I had the schnitzel with garlic butter and it was really good.
