The Red Maple was originally owned and operated by the Trauth Family, a German-American family of restaurateurs spanning 100 years in Gretna. And what began in 1963 continues to this day, holding to its German roots through its rustic Alpine lodge decor, extensive beer selection and annual Oktoberfest celebration. In fact, it was a red maple tree in the side yard that inspired the name of the bar – The Red Maple – with the restaurant being added in 1965.

Now for over 50 years, The Red Maple has been the rendezvous spot for West Bank movers and shakers known for its Prime cut steaks, New Orleans favorites and fresh Louisiana seafood.

Today, under the passionate guidance of Proprietor Brent Trauth and his sister, Carroll Gales, The Red Maple continues to deliver on its reputation for delicious food, exceptional service and rich Louisiana history. A rich and storied past that is only upstaged by the dining experience itself.

    Always clean, warm and welcoming. Friendly and attentive staff. Bread service is nice. The stuffed mushrooms were very good but the lemon beurre Blanc sauce was out of this world. My hamburger steak was an over cooked and burnt for part of it. However, the mashed potatoes and green beans were delicious. The seafood stuffed soft shell crab was impressive. Once again, the sauce on the crawfish pasta that came with it was delicious and could have been a meal by itself. The shrimp and fish plate was fried to perfection and generous. All the entrees were generous. The food came out fairly soon and the prices were fair for what you got. The Red Maple is consistently one of the best dining experiences on the Westbank..especially after Mandina’s and Rizzuto’s closed. My only complaint is the credit card service charge. I don’t like that concept at any restaurant. I understand why some businesses do it but not restaurants. Eating out is a luxury not a necessity. Charge more for the food or charge for the bread service.

    My steak was cooked perfect, 22 oz bone in ribeye, The scallop appetizer was great. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is warm an inviting.

    As always, the food was delicious and the wait staff was very attentive. This restaurant gives a very welcoming vibe to everyone. I highly recommend The Red Maple which is locally owned and managed. It is a beautiful and sparkling diamond in Old Gretna!

    The food was excellent. The service was great. We always have an enjoyable time at the Red Maple. I miss the old rolls and butter that the used to have though.

    Tuesdays and Wednesdays here feature truly incredible discounts on the ribeye steak and the filet mignon. Plus discounts on Decoy wines. An amazing value, on top of their already wonderful food. Would highly recommend!
