The Royal Stag has been a historical drinking and eating establishment in the midst of the picturesque village of Datchet since the fifteenth century.
Today we are the only pub in the village, proud to be the centre of the community and serving good food, wine and beers to locals and visitors alike from 11am until midnight.
Our food is freshly cooked on-site, featuring local ingredients served all day every day from midday until we take our last order at 8.45pm.
We do a fine Sunday roast and we advise booking a table so that you can enjoy our traditional hospitality, cosy fire and warm atmosphere. Enjoy a quiet chat in a cosy nook under the old beams or gather with friends, family and colleagues in the warmth of the bar overlooking the village green.
Only 3 miles from Windsor Castle we are a popular stop off point for a pint after a brisk walk with the dog! Pop in when you’re next passing.

The landlord could not have been more hospitable. Helped select a great local bitter, followed by the pie recommendation which was genuinely excellent. Service was outstanding and friendly. Not been here before but will definitely bringing more of my colleagues again!

Very cute pub. Food came quickly, was hot and very good. Only downside, not enough toast with the pate (is there ever in any restaurant though?). Tempura calamari was soooooo good. Sausage n mash, chicken with spinach and lemon sauce again, really good Topped off with grey goose and friendly staff, it was a really lovely experience. We will definitely return. Not a bank breaker either, very reasonably priced

A really handy place to meet as well placed for the M25 and M4. Proper old pub. Dogs welcome which is great. Large selection of pub grub very reasonably priced.

Five of us went for Sunday lunch. The pork belly roast was 4/5. The lamb roast meat was good in quantity but very fatty 2/5 and 2 people who had it could not eat it and left most of it on the plate. The home made nachos were 5/5 and the steak and ale pie was good. We mentioned our disappointment with the lamb to the server who said they would tell the chef. No response came and we paid for the inedible roast lamb. I Overall would not recommend to fatty lamb.

We found The Royal Stag by chance and had a lovely Sunday roast. The food was above expectations, all home cooked with nice touches and good veggie options. Puddings were delicious. Good selection of beers on tap. Staff were friendly and attentive.
