Welcome to The Sidings, a unique destination brought to you by Carriages Restaurant. Nestled amidst serene landscapes, The Sidings combines a farm shop and café to offer an immersive experience for train enthusiasts and culinary connoisseurs alike.
Our exquisite First Class carriage café, adorned with elegant art-deco elements, provides a one-of-a-kind dining experience from 10am – 4pm, Wednesday to Saturday, and 10am - 3pm on Sundays. Our carriage Farm Shop, open from 10am – 5pm, Wednesday to Saturday, and 10am - 4pm on Sundays, features fresh, seasonal, locally produced products, ensuring quality and sustainability.

You can book a table for inside the café, however walk ins are welcome.
We are only dog friendly outside on a lead, unless they are a service dog.
Smoking is not permitted on site.

First Class Afternoon Tea at The Sidings, served in the charming setting of our First Class train carriage. Enjoy a perfect cup of James Gourmet coffee or explore the variety of Teapigs teas we have to offer. For an extra touch of sparkle, upgrade to a glass of prosecco for just £4 per person. Our Afternoon Tea is served from 2pm to 4pm, offering the perfect mid-afternoon escape. We strive to accommodate all dietary requirements, so please make a note when booking or reach out to us directly. Afternoon Tea at The Sidings is £25 per person. Advanced booking is essential.

Lovely friendly welcome, atmosphere relaxed and comfortable. Table clean and prepared for us. Food choices was good. My mum only usually eats toast at lunchtimes and they accommodated that with no hesitation. Delicious soup. Overall no complaints and would highly recommend.

Excellent service, food presentation and cooking. Lovely atmosphere. This is my 4th visit and I feel it would be interesting to have a little change of the menu at times as it is getting a little boring to have exactly the same choice every time I come.

We had heard of The Sidings from a friend, who highly recommended we try it. We had a delicious breakfast in a wonderful setting. Something different. The service, food & surroundings were wonderful. We will definitely be back.

Food was great and the prices represented good value for money. Seats were v comfortable (mk 3 first class coach with 2/1 facing seating across) with tables in between Coffee was a bit tasteless (too weak?) but Merlot was really nice!

A very enjoyable experience. Comfortable well-appointed railway carriage, friendly staff and delicious, beautifully presented food. We'll be back and also to visit the Farm shop in the neighbouring carriage which we ran out of time for!
