   Ordered the prime rib on a Sunday evening. I asked for medium rare. The first one was delivered well done, the second one was delivered medium well. It was a reheated piece of meat that was still almost cold in the center. Pricey and tasteless.

   We all had a great experience dining here. Our waiter Jeff made my night by having the entire room sing Happy Birthday to me !!! We will definitely return.

   The Student Prince is a gem…an institution! Everything was excellent, from the professional and efficient service, to the authentic decor, and fabulous food and big menu. We went for a graduation lunch with 6 people, and everyone loved it! If you are anywhere in the Springfield area, you must go!

   We were a group of nine dining here. We were able to get reservations early afternoon for same day even though the restaurant fills up fast. I have been to Germany many times and this restaurant’s cuisine is as authentic as it gets. There are also non-German dishes for those who want them. The decor of the restaurant is very special with beer steins in the bar area and fine European blue china dotting the main dining room walls. They do not prepare separate checks for parties of more than five so we split into two adjacent tables. Photos of our visit follow. Do not miss this place when passing through Springfield, MA!

   I was really excited to eat some authentic German food with my partner for his birthday but that’s not at all what we got. It’s like new American meets German but make it GREASY… Fried Camembert should be a crime. That dish is NOT German and is actually genuinely hated by the French. The bacon jam is horribly tough and chewy too (they put it on half the dishes). It’s also just so expensive for no reason. Don’t go here, you’ll find better luck at Bronwyn in Somerville!! Edit: I had decided to bring home the wurst plate (sausage & sauerkraut) to try it out and it was very hearty and actually pretty bomb. Maybe just stick to the simpler menu items if you decide to try this place out !
