   We had reservations and ate in the bar before an event at the concert hall next door. I ate there once before and my impression this time was the same - food is okay but they don't quite nail it. I wouldn't be motivated to eat there except for the convenience when attending an event. The staff was quite harried before the show. We did a prix fixe menu, and returned for dessert after the show. At that point they had one server and one bartender, for a bar that probably had 50-60 guests. The server did great, and I realize surge staffing is really difficult, but it was Saturday night...

   I ordered Crab Bisque. It had a watery broth that tasted fine, but nothing fabulous, and about 4 small pieces of crab. Crab bisque normally has a nice rich creamy broth. This one did not. If you order it, definitely plan it being a very light appetizer, not your dinner.

   Good attempt at a late night bar menu, but our cordon bleu sandwich was very dry. Perhaps the other choices are more pleasing. We dined after the Symphony, and the main dining area was already closed, on a Saturday night, at 2130. What has happened to civilized dining? And...enough walk ins to almost fill the restaurant came between 2130 and 2215.

   Dinner with gir;friends before a show. Hostess was cold, and unwelcoming. Our server was nice, but food took forever even though our show time was communicated 90 nminutes prior. Drinks were forgotten, I had to ask for shared plates. The meat and cheese plate was small portioned and gross meats. Two people ordered halibut, and 1 got 8 oz, and one 4oz. of fish, it was ridiculous. Wine selection was so-so and all wines by glass I tasted were not good. This restaurant needs a lot of help. I hope it comes around since its proximity to the theater.

   We went to the Tavern before a show at the theater next door. We gave ourselves 2 hours for dinner and made it to the show just in time. Our server, Sarah, was lovely and did a fantastic job assisting us with a food allergy and working with the kitchen and chef to accommodate. Definitely recommend!

   Group of 4 for lunch. Ordered a latte. Came without a spoon or being asked about sugar. Asked for sugar and NEVER brought it. Could not get the server ‘s attention. Had to get up snd fight a person bussing a table and she went to get sugar. So much time had passed the the original drink was cold. Another was brought to the table snd it tasted burnt. We all wondered if someone had microwaved the cold drink. One person ordered a Dutch baby. It was over cooked and flat snd stuck to the dish. In addition, two of our guest were overcharged $10 each for the chicken that they added to their salads. We will NEVER go back. It is sad to see a Portland landmark go downhill. A sad day for Portland.

    My wife and I made reservations to eat at The Tavern prior to attending a concert next door at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall. The location, of course, could not have been more convenient, as was the availability, literally across the street from the restaurant, of off-street parking. While The Tavern is neither particularly quiet nor, for us, inexpensive, the entire experience was quite enjoyable. The food was wonderfully and attractively prepared, the drinks were great, and the service was terrific. We will definitely return, particularly if we are in downtown Portland to attend an event,
