Liam and the team behind The Boat are proud to bring to you a modern neighbourhood pub in the beautiful village of Barton-Under-Needwood.

Soak up sun in the garden with a cocktail, or in the winter find a seat inside next to the log burner. Our focus is on modern pub classics with a twist.

Offering breakfast at weekends and a classic Sunday Lunch. We also have space for hire, for private parties, birthdays, meetings or even to kick back for a sporting event.

I loved the limited menu, just a choice of 5 main courses, the cod I ordered was beautifully cooked and the vegetables were fresh and tasty. The portions were small which suits me. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The layout was country pub, yet fresh and inviting. This is the tastiest food I have eaten in the surrounding villages.

Fantastic Sunday lunch. Portions were just right. We had starters, main and dessert. Food was hot and delicious, couldn't fault it. Service was attentive and friendly . The staff were really helpful as we couldn't dine upstairs they sorted out a table for us on the ground floor. Definitely going to be returning, would highly recommend.

Great food. We all had Sunday lunch and this was as good as it gets. Almost 5 stars however, just a couple of things let it down. Table wasn’t prepared. We were taken to a table with a used coffee cup on it. The drinks order wasn’t correct. Soda water brought to table and not lemonade as ordered. We were asked if we wanted more drinks well after we had finished ours. Lastly, we had to ask if we could order food as tables seated after us were placing their orders. One table was quite large. They seem little niggles but there were too many little niggles not to mention it.

Ordered Beef from the Sunday lunch menu. It was rather tough and I was difficult to chew. The waitress was excellent and exchanged it for chicken. The "seasonal" vegetables were sparce ( half teaspoonful cabbage and one half of a carrot) Gravy was just about a teaspoonful. Three halves of roast potatoes - thats it. The sweet was excellent we had Sticky toffee pudding, the size was ample and it tasted good. Total bill seemeed rather expensive for what we had. The service was second to non, our waitress looked after us really well, was prompt with everything and extremely polite she really did a very good job, not something you see very often.

Lovely pub, great menu, fairly priced, well cooked and presented food and good beer & wine available. My only tiny criticism is I barely had any custard on my bread & butter pudding. Could’ve asked for more I guess but needed more to begin with. Overall though excellent and highly recommended
